Three of them were struggling to stay upright. Half an hour later, they finally reached the door. Alex rubbed her eyes and blinked. That was what glaring down a microscope at red and white blood cells eight hours a day did to you—especially if you wore contacts. She should have put some eye drops in before she left the house, but the girls were in such a rush.

Was I making a bigger deal out of this than necessary? As I got out of bed, I glanced at my reflection in the mirror. Dark circles under my eyes, a tired expression staring back at me. I splashed some cold water on my face, hoping it would help me wake up. The chill of the water was a stark contrast to the warm confusion and anger swirling inside me.

I rip my shirt open and I see water rolling down my body as if it's a hot summer's day. Something catches my eye. My veins start turning black , and like almost black blood begins to flow up to my arms. Standing up , I limp to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. The pain begins to double and triple - I hold onto the sink. The black blood or substance travels through every vein in my body, even the eye vein - turning the whites of my eyes black. I feel it flow as it leaves a trail of pain behind. My teeth begin to hurt and I begin to loose conciousness as the pain becomes unbearable.

Scarlet I sit up, eyes waking up before my mind. I’m uncomfortable with stiff legs and an aching back, and for a split second, I think I fell asleep sitting up on the couch. Then I blink and realize my eyes are still sore and swollen from crying. Yes, crying.

’ He shouted angrily at me. Taking a deep breath, I sighed helplessly before opening my eyes. To say I look horrible would be an understatement. I look far worse than horrible. My eyes were swollen and red from constant crying and I had huge eye bags under them from lack of sleep, the dark circles were large too.

This time when I woke up,outside my window wasn't dark anymore and there were no nightmares that had me heaving, sweating and panting. I let out a shuddering breath as I threw the covers off me. My head felt heavy. I had woken up with a pounding headache, the kind that spreads from behind your eyes to the base of your skull. Last night's tears had dried on my cheeks, leaving my skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. I'd promised myself I wouldn't cry anymore, but sometimes promises are hard to keep when the nightmares come.

I rinse my mouth in the sink and look up at my reflection . I really did look different. My hazel eyes were completely red and the it indeed looked as if I hadn't slept . The capillaries in my eyes were prominent against the white colour of the iris . It was bloodshot red . My face was and body were much paler than before as well giving me an almost whitish appearance . It didn't look that bad and I'm sure my eyes would return to normal once my hunger subsides . I hear a knock on the bathroom door .

The next day, Kaylar reluctantly pulled herself out of bed and made her way into the bathroom to freshen up. As she looked at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes were bloodshot and swollen, adorned with prominent eye bags and dark circles. It was evident that she hadn't closed her eyes all night.

Brian I jolted awake, running to the bathroom and puking my guts out for the second time. After puking, I brushed ny teeth and took some pain killers. I sighed looking at my appearance, I looked as awful as I felt. Under my eyes where dark bruise like eye bags. My eyes were blood shot with my hair sticking out of random places. I was truly a sight for sore eyes. I felt like I had forgotten something, something important. I racked my brain, searching through my memory trying to piece everything up to find what I had forgotten. I came up short, the feeling lingering.

Waking up with an excruciating headache, Aiden tried to recollect what happened that made him wake up in pain. Everything was blurry in his mind, making his head throbbed more in pain just trying to catched up with the memory of last night. He rolled on his bed to get up but the sudden heat on his stomach and throat made him sit down. He waited for a minute and kept his feet going to the bathroom. While peeing, he almost jumped out noticing how troubled his face was. Heavy eyebags, red eyes that could chase away anyone who’ll see him, some red stains on his lips up to his left cheeks, purple marks just right down in his jaw.
