I was just beginning to get used to them. That was when I heard it. Noise coming from somewhere. “Cassie, do you hear that?” Alison asked, frowning slightly. I called again, moving toward the door but I got no answer. This guy is not only a nerd, he is also weird and somehow crazy. I wonder how I was going to cope with him when I joined his book club. I grabbed my phone off the table and unlocked it. As the screen popped on, messages flooded in. Nothing useful. As I rounded a corner, voices caught my attention. Two younger students sat at a table near the window, whispering excitedly over a thick, leather-bound tome. I paused, frowning. It wasn’t a book I recognized—its cover bore a dark illustration of a jagged door with runes etched into it. My pulse quickened. I approached, casual as I could manage. “What are you two reading?” The students startled, glancing up nervously. One of them closed the book a little too fast. “Oh, uh… nothing, really.”

Like I don't have a care in the world right now. *paper sound* What is that sound anyway? I sleepily open my eyes once more to see the book once more but this time there was a picture. Page 28? When did I even start reading this book? I should just get up, use my speed magic to read it finish and go back to sleep... Why am I even reading a book like this? I sleepily wondered, I then felt a gentle, tender pat on my head, the tender feeling of fingers going through my hair once again lulls me back to sleep.

Looking around the staff desk, I didn’t find anything that could possibly buzz like a phone; simply, it wasn't either of ours. My search was in the process which led me to the book sections. But realising the sound faded so I came back near the entrance and roamed my eyes around.
