Maybe I would have found Micha. I hadn’t realised that I was hyperventilating until Alyse pulled me back to reality. I was standing between her and Hina with my hands on either side of my face. Breathing was near on impossible, I felt like my lungs had completely closed over. The pain in my chest was astounding. It felt like my heart was being torn from my chest and my lungs were dipped in aconite. “Shh now, clam down Nae. You need to breathe” Alyse was calling to me, her hands rubbing in circles on my chest.

It wasn't like I got hurt inside my chest or pulled a muscle. This felt wrong. My breathing got uneven immediately and I tried to sit up, pressing my palm harder against my chest like that would somehow stop it. "What is this..." I muttered, my voice shaky. The pain didn't go away. It got worse. My heart started beating fast, too fast, like it was trying to run out of my chest. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to focus, trying to breathe properly, but the moment I did that, I saw her. Carian.

And here I am, still with a broken heart. It feels like I can’t breathe. I need to get some air.

“What the--That's unfair! Come back here, Mystic! ” As if I just came from drowning, I inhaled deep as I feel something heavy placed in my heart. I found myself in the back garden, taking deep breaths of the fresh air. My lungs felt tight, I was struggling to breathe. My heart was pounding, I couldn’t hear anything but my heart. Ba-dum, ba-dum, ba-dum, louder and louder. My heart felt like it was going to burst from my chest as my lungs constricted. I fell to my knees as my breathing got worse. The pain across my chest was indescribable.

Breathe,” I muttered to myself, but my voice sounded distant, panicked. My trembling hands pressed against my chest as if I could physically hold my heart together.

I held onto my chest and took deep breaths. Fuck. This isn’t good. Why does my heart keep on beating like a hundred miles per hour?
