He just watches me. “I just do.”
I try to move my shoulders again, in a shrug, but they hurt. “Don’t see the point, either way. Last thing I need to add is the stigma of snitch on my forehead.”
“You should’ve kicked their asses,” Jesse leans against me in a familiar manner. I don’t stop him. When I don’t say anything, he adds, “Want me to do it for you?”
The offer is so unexpected and weirdly sweet that I glance at him. “Thanks, but if there is any ass kicking to be done, I’d rather do it myself. Appreciate the offer though.”
