Silent. By one-thirty the apartment felt too small. The walls pressed in. I bundled the kids into coats—Shayla chattering about wanting to see “guitar man” again, Lucas clutching his dinosaur, Aiden gnawing on a teething ring—and we went for a walk. Not to the playground. Just around the block. Fresh air. Distraction.

Quaint was the realtor’s code for dilapidated, drafty, and impossibly small. The house was little more than a box with windows, and for my younger brother, Leo, and me, it meant a total loss of privacy. “Is this your room?” So, this is the room of a five-year-old boy. It’s a lively and colorful space, bursting with energy and imagination. The walls were painted in bright shades of blue and green adorned with posters of dinosaurs. A small bed with soft blankets and stuffed animals sits against one wall, often slightly messy. Scattered across the floor are toy cars, building blocks, and action figures. Shelves hold neatly stacked storybooks, ready for bedtime tales, while a tiny desk stands in one corner, covered with crayons, drawing paper, and unfinished masterpieces.

I woke to the sound of laughter. It was loud, messy and layered with the thudding footsteps of half a dozen little ones running over the dirt yard outside my window. Eren’s was the loudest. Leena's POV I hear a slight, feminine knock on the chamber doors. When I open it, a petite maid, looking to be in her forties is just out outside of it. "Hi! Good morning! Err, afternoon I mean. How may I help you?" She gives out a small giggle at my time mishap. "Pardon me, Luna. His Majesty left an itinerary for you while he is away on business and the first item is in twenty minutes in the library."
