19 Minutes Summary Novels & Stories

"If it were real trouble, you'll know." She comes and helps dust me off. “Now hurry,” her green eyes are twinkling. “Kane has a special treat planned for you and it’s under his orders that you are ready in time. I only have 45 minutes to transform you and trust me, honey, I’m gonna need every minute.” “How much time do I have left?” I begin to shuffle out of the room. Tapping her watch loudly she screams after me, “Seven minutes, thirty-eight seconds!”

120 hours, that was all it would take. Kate looked up at the sky, 119:53:42 shone in the blue of the afternoon. The time was enchanted across the sky, a magic that had been lent from another kingdom. The alpha's first bite ceased to be effective in 119 hours, 53 minutes, and 27, 26, 25 seconds. Kate counted down, grateful for each second that passed in their favor.

Larry, I'm giving you five minutes. Chief Wyatt shoved the phone in front of my face. "Five minutes? Fine. I'll wait right here for five minutes. And if you can't cough up something real by then, I'll treat this call as evidence of a threat against a public official. "When that happens, don't think I'll stop at your granddaughter—I'll come for you too!" Christine clapped her hands beside him. "Uncle Larry, you're so awesome!" She shot me a wink. "Julius, did you hear that? Five minutes—the countdown starts now."

None of it landing. Because my mind had already left the room. Left the call. Was somewhere else entirely. 8 hours ahead. In the same city. With her. I exhaled quietly. “Send me a summary,” I said. “Sir, we’re still discussing—” “Send me a summary,” I repeated. A pause. “Yes, sir.” I ended the call. Just like that. Closed the laptop. And sat there for a second. Still. Then I checked the time again. 4:52 a.m.

Inez added. “Bring wine, too,” Cass pleads. “Okay, Cass, now this is brilliant. Inez giggled with excitement. Cassandra ended the call and quickly went back to her baking. Inez had allocated twenty minutes for Cassandra, but it all passed too quickly, and she wasn’t there yet. As she began to doubt, the doorbell went off and interrupted her thoughts.

Sixty-three minutes until the system crashed. Sixty-three minutes to save everyone or lose everything. The clock started counting down, and I dove into the code, barely aware of my team surrounding me with weapons drawn, protecting what was left of their friend while she attempted to hack God.

“O-okay…” “Come again?” “…okay, Carlisle.” He smiled. “Good girl.” Just like that, seven minutes was over.

“It was not strategic. It was the reaction of a man who has been in control of a situation for thirty years and suddenly is not.” “Can it be reversed,” I said. He looked at his hands. “The senior archivist can reverse the emergency protocol within the first hour of activation,” he said. “After that it runs to completion.” I looked at Damien. He checked his phone. “Thirty-one minutes since activation,” he said. Twenty-nine minutes remaining. I looked at Mace. He looked at the valley. At the light doing what it did in this specific place. At the stones and the trees and the history of something that had existed here before the pack structure.

Miranda walked over and drove the heel of her shoe straight down onto the back of my hand. "You're just a grease monkey. What makes you think you're some kind of savior? Leon, don't waste time talking to him. Lock him in solitary. We'll deal with him after the alarm stops." I looked at the timer on the wall. Seventeen minutes left before the core blew. "If the core blows up, none of us will make it out alive!" I shouted at Leon, spit hitting his boots.

“We need to move faster.” “We have like nine minutes.” “We don’t,” he says. “We have less than two minutes. I set the timer too soon. If we are still on this pass when that bomb goes off, we’re toast.”
