“That was way too close.” As she straightened, something clicked in her mind — the so-called blind spot. She turned to glance around the oak tree, realizing now what she should’ve known all along. There was no real blind spot. Just an illusion. The cameras couldn’t reach behind the oak’s thick canopy, so the staff called it a blind spot to deter intruders, to make them think they’d found a flaw. “Of course,” she muttered under her breath. “They’d make even the traps sound tempting.”

Her eyes were locked on the pyramid, her glance sharp and focused, as if waiting for something out of the ordinary to move. “Path?” she asked. My father pointed towards a barely visible dip in the terrain, the bob in the throat moving as he didn't look away, “There. The blind spot. Twelve-second window between sweeps.” “Twelve?” Alexei repeated. “Generous.” “It used to be eight.” He confessed. “That does not help.” He frowned. I ignored them, and focused on the situation. “On my mark,” I said under my breath, in hopes of calming every aching nerves.

Finally, I stop, my chest heaving, my arms hanging heavy at my sides. "You are trying to see me," the blind man says. "That is your mistake. Your eyes are lying to you. They show you where I was, not where I am going." He taps his stick against the floor. "Close your eyes." "What?" "Close your eyes. You cannot fight what you cannot see. So stop trying to see." I look at Mark. He nods once. I close my eyes. The darkness is immediate and complete. Without sight, like the world shrinks to the sounds around me. My own breathing, and drip of water somewhere in the distance. The soft tap of the blind man's stick against the stone floor.

Her eyes determined and absorbing info fast. Romnick blinked, narrowing his eyes to make sure he isn’t missing anything. "I hate strategy people." He comments touching his chin. Nobody listened. Cinthye resumed without hesitation. "They want us focused there." The upper chamber slowly leaned forward. Invested in the actual footage and insight Cinthye shared. Their eyes glint in intrigue. Then she pointed toward another location. A seemingly insignificant region. The blind spot anyone could have missed. Far from the capital. Far from the main conflict. The Shadow Matriarch suddenly went pale. Everyone noticed.

The food should be ready soon," he informed me as he looked around the place. I wonder what he could see. I mean, obviously he could see auras now but did that mean that he could see faint objects or outlines of things? What would it be like if one was blind? What if I was blind? “What is it like being blind?" The words tumbled out of my mouth without permission and I quickly slapped a hand around my mouth while feeling guilty for even saying it.

CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE * * Black. Blur Black. . . Then, blur again. He blinks weakly to clear the haze in his vision and then his brows twitch slightly, his mind growing foggy with confusion. It takes no more than a second for the memories to attack, all of it, each painful piece, stabbing his numb heart and forcing it to skip a beat. Disbelief . . . Disappointment. . . Anger Why? THIRD PERSON POV Cortical Blindness. The Doctor’s diagnosis rang in Isabella’s head once again as she stared at the blur, emptiness deep-rooted within her. The baby had taken her sight. Temporary or not, the doctor couldn't say how long this would last. The past hours had been the toughest of her life. Discomfort engulfed her, her heart was thumping so fast as she feared what lurked around her. She tried to picture an image of her face but not much popped up. Before now it never occurred to her to stare at herself regularly.

Deep within these ruminations, Chiri’s thoughts were interrupted by an object darting just within her prereferral vision. Easily dismissed as a playful leaf tumbling in the breeze, she recognized the unnatural stealthy movements of a black specter. Distinguishing it from the darkness, she watched as it nimbly leapt into the cover of some nearby foliage. Alert towards its presence now, Chiri tracked its motions silently with her eyes. Looking on, she saw the shadowy figure scurry along a drainpipe, before finally seeking refuge in the nearest open window.

Despite the odds, Rex was aware and knew the stubborn girl would refuse to live with him instead she will be adamant on staying in that tiny crappy unclean carton she called home. "The conclusion is that you have a temporary eye defect and you might recover on time or not." Rex sassed and she glare at him. Rex was wrong about his stupid words, her sight wasn’t damaged only needed time to adjust be able to identify objects including people. It was a good thing Kyle cleared things out or Cherry would rain new level of edge on Rex.
