Book Borrowed Time Novels & Stories

I unzip my school bag and place the book inside. ‘W-what are you doing, Magnus? You can’t take the book. It would be -s-stealing.’ ‘I’m just borrowing it for now. I’ll return it once we break the curse, okay?’ ‘I guess.’ ‘Time to get out of here.’ I say. We blow the candles out and open the door ajar. Once the coast is clear, I walk out and distract the librarian again with more flirting while Pipsqueak locks up the room and returns the keys.

mind trying to figure out how to get back to them. She lowered her head and started looking at the table rather than the man which caught their attention, and they all began to stare at her as she quickly was putting piece by piece into a more significant puzzle that she didn’t even know was there. It was starting to make sense now. Her whole life was beginning to make sense now; she had been working for this moment since she was nearly ten years old. The theory that she had come up with then was that she wanted to travel back in time, but she didn’t know how she didn’t understand that there was no magical machine that can take you back into the past. So the part of the theory that she had

He gave me the book beforehand to get in and open the door for the shelf which I can picture clearly in my mind. The voice of Branson talking with Alex start fading away which means that they are walking away from the library. I take the opportunity and step inside the library. It's very quiet and there are no people around. We chose this time because it's the time the library opens, so no one would be around. Not yet. As per his plan, I have thirty minutes in my hand to do the job. I look around the library to search for the shelf that has one book missing in a row. A few minutes pass and I still can't find the shelf. Bloody hell! Where is it?

But Never mind. "I'll meet you in the library in ten minutes," I say, and close the door. Those ten minutes are spent splashing cold water on my face and having a conversation with my reflection that goes: "You are a grown woman. You are pregnant. You are in a contract marriage with a man who calls you merchandise. You will go into that library and discuss intellectual property theft like a professional. You will not think about his hands. You will not think about the worktable. You will not.."

"Thank you so much," I smiled at the little kid who was returning the book that she had borrowed two days back from the library. My stomach was already in knots as the clock kept ticking closer towards 8 pm. Tristan would be here any minute and I was freaking out. I knew he had a test today and I really hoped he did well.

I run my fingers across every bump as I proceed to read its contents. Mother created that podium. It allows me to take any book I wish to read and have it converted into brail. When I’m finished reading I simply place the book back on the shelf and the book will return to its original state. Yes, it’s another accommodation made for me, but it’s a very useful one since our job sometimes involves a little research. We’ve all read every book in this library, even written most of them, which isn’t very difficult. Considering how long we’ve been alive, we have an abundance of time.

“Yes, sir!” “Ok, here are the rules. Each of the books here can be borrowed with points. You can read the introduction before borrowing them. You need to register with me first if you only wish to browse. If you really wish to study, you’ll have to go into the Enlightenment Room for two hours, of which you’ll need points to access that as well. Prohibition has been put on the books so don’t even think about forcing your way through them. Remember, you have a time limit of two hours. You’ll need to pay with more points if you want to extend the time.”

Loving on a borrowed time Larry was fixing his gaze on his desktop trying to decipher the numerical figures that were displayed on the spreadsheet in his ledger . He was looking nervous as he was struggling to balance the numbers that seemed to be confusing him every time he tried to look at them. He was having a meeting in a thirty minute's time. "Oh damn", he said as he was re-working on a same column that seemed to be giving him a hard time.

I had no idea where else I would find it if a copy wasn’t in this library. "Funny,” she began turning her full attention to me, “that book has been seated on that shelf for as long as I’ve been here,” she began her eyes trailing to the shelf behind me, I turned slightly to look at the shelf as she continued, “ it was just borrowed out yesterday by some guy, it’s a rare copy, that's why I remember it so well, plus the guy that borrowed it was quite the catch," she finished with a wink. My heart fell at this, now getting more desperate, "do you, maybe know when he will be bringing it back. Or who he is in the least?" I asked.

he began. "The job requirements and duties are quite easy. Like you already know the library opens up by 8:30 am. I'll provide your own access to the library laptop and wifi. When anyone borrows a book, you enter it into the borrowed register. You take the down the person's name, phone number, the book title and the amount of days they intend to borrow it for. You following?" "Yeah....yeah, I'm following," I nodded repeatedly. "But I want to ask though, is there like a fine for anyone who returns their books later than the expected return date?"
