“Ah, there she is now.” A woman dressed in all black steps inside the room. Her face is hidden by a veil and all you can hear when she walks is from a little bell on her ankle. She moves along the path and makes her way toward Ramsey. As far as I can tell, she never once looks at me. “My little pet witch is here, at last. I’m so glad you can join us. Now, as for my request, you said you could undo what has been done as long as they haven’t completed the bond physically.”

She was downcast hoping not to get depressed soon. It's her choice yet she is finding it too difficult to accept. What is there not to accept when she has already signed the marriage paper, it was just for the priest to bless the marriage. She indeed got married on the 25th, but it was still like a nightmare to her. A Christmas Bride she is indeed. Whether a big wedding or a blessing of marriage, there is no difference. It's the same purpose it is serving. She sighed and wore the red heels. God help her poor soul not to break her legs on these.

I froze. I stared at my reflection, touching my face with trembling fingers. I was dressed in a white ceremonial gown, pure white without a single stain. I was stunning. My eyes sparkled like stars, my bridal makeup flawless. My hair was simply styled and secured with a small jeweled crown, my veil fluttering in the breeze from the open window. This can’t be happening. Was the Moon Goddess giving me a second chance? “It’s almost time. I don’t know why you’re acting this way, but I’ll be waiting at the hall. Adrian too,” Mirabel said, and left the room.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife." The words hit me like a slap. My hands shook inside the white lace gloves as Alexander Voss slid the heavy gold band onto my finger. Not Sophia's. Mine. I forced a smile for the hundreds of eyes watching us. The cathedral smelled of expensive flowers and even more expensive perfume. Cameras flashed nonstop. "You may kiss the bride," the officiant said with a proud smile. Alexander leaned in. His grey eyes locked on mine for the first time up close. For one second I thought he might actually do it. Then something shifted in his face. His jaw tightened. He pressed a quick, cold kiss to my cheek instead.

The night before my wedding I couldn't sleep. I had expected this. The not-sleeping had been factored into my understanding of what tonight would feel like, particularly a tonight that had arrived the way this one had. What I had not factored in was the specific quality of the wakefulness — not anxious, not the restless anticipation of someone bracing for impact. Not the hollow dread I had prepared for back in the beginning when I sat in the dark of my bedroom and made myself a promise about what Dante Vitale would and would never get from me.

Thankfully, all the babies that have been born in the last five years have been unaffected by the Nightmare as well as all the humans that took the potion. Today was going to be a great day. I kept saying to myself as I continued to watch my pack finish up. I was getting married today. I was getting married to Craig today. Craig, my best friend. The one that was always there for me. My mate and my love. I was never surer about anything. This was the right decision for me. I didn't even think twice about it. He was so scared when he proposed a few months ago though. I have no idea why.

"I'm here to help, sir. I intend to prove myself." Garrison smirked, though it didn't reach his eyes. "Good. Because you're not here to sit around and twiddle your thumbs. You're here because we've got a killer who likes to dress women up as brides and leave them dead with a rose on their chest. We're up to six victims now. All young women, all found in various picturesque spots around town. No fingerprints, no DNA, no witnesses. Just bodies in wedding dresses and roses." Jane's stomach twisted. She had read about the Bride Killer in the papers, but hearing it described in such stark detail made it feel more real. More horrifying.

Smiled. “Instead,” he said, stepping back, “I’ve asked someone else to be my bride.” My knees nearly gave way but I stood still, every cell in my body screaming. Out of the crowd, she stepped forward. Clarissa. My sister. Wearing my dress. "Liam," I breathed. "What are you doing?" He didn’t answer me. He extended his hand, to her. “Clarissa, love, come here.” And just like a rehearsed pageantry, she strode down the red carpet, a smile carved on her lips as she walked towards him, confident, calm and cruel.
