She hoarded the dreams privately, examining them in the mornings before she was fully awake, not ready to say them out loud because saying them out loud made them real in a way that felt simultaneously wonderful and terrifying. I flipped through it, but the words made no sense to me, so I closed it. The next book was a novel. It was dog-eared from use, so I knew he loved this one. Unable to find anything, I put them back in place. Minutes ticked by. I was losing time, and yet I had not gotten anything impressive. And as more time passed, a heavy silence pressed down on me. How the hell has I gone from the girl with big dreams to a woman – a fraud if you please – sneaking around in the dark, looking for a way to betray the one person who had been kind to her.

"And bring me that book on the side please." Greyson raised the leather book with a look of doubt. "Why on earth do you want me to bring you this stupid book about fairytales, sugar?" So I clenched my fist and hid it behind me. “Such a bizarre dream, just like the ones I had with the mysterious girl. It feels so real, I wasn’t able to go back to sleep so I just read one of the books I borrowed in my father’s office. It’s about dreams and their meanings. Did you know that we dream of what— Wildfrost? Are you alright?” I immediately stopped in my tracks when I saw how pale she looked. Her hands were clutching the hem of her shirt tightly, her lips were sickly pale, and her green eyes were glossy. I felt a pang of nervousness, worrying that something I said might have caused this reaction.

"I started dreaming recently, but not an ordinary dream. Like those we travel to places I can't even imagine if I ever set foot or if I can get back there. In my dreams I am a woman, as beautiful and bright as the sun. The skin so brown and golden that it looked like it was made of gold, but it was miserably thin.
