This was the formal way for superiors to address subordinates. Seeing that Levi was ignoring him and was about to leave, he could only stop him by exerting his authoritative power as his superior.

Elijah chided, though there was more affection than anger in his tone. He held her tight, as if afraid she might slip away from him. "You're going to live. We still have a lifetime together."
