Bound by His Promise
I ran past the barricade again, shouting Lucas’s name, until someone pulled me back.
“Ma’am! Please, you can’t—”
“Let me go! He’s in there!”
Suddenly, a strong arm caught me. “Rhea!”
I froze. That voice.
When I looked up, Lucas was standing there — bruised, dusty, limping, but alive.
“Lucas…”
Before I could think, I threw my arms around him, sobbing. He held me tight, one arm around my waist, the other pressing gently against my back.
“You’re alive,” I cried, voice shaking. “I thought—”
