Moonbound Deception
Turning quickly, I searched for the water dispenser—it was in the corner of the room.
The old dispenser stood alone, condensation clinging to the sides of its blue container.
I instinctively reached for a cup on the shelf, but knocked one over instead. It shattered—a sharp crack on the tiled floor.
“Damn,” I muttered. “Sorry, sorry.” I quickly grabbed a plastic cup instead.
I pressed the lever.
The sound of water trickling in felt far too familiar—mundane, alive.
The soft ‘glug glug’ filled the quiet room like a lullaby of the real world—a world without magic, without danger.
