I voiced out. "And whose fault was that?" she said glaring at me. Your psychotic mind, I mumbled beneath my breath, just then she decided to drop one of her crutches, she tried to make it look like an accident but failed miserably. She's going to be the death of me, mumbled before adding a string of curse words to the statement. I hurried over to her and supported her falling figure by putting my hand around her waist leading her to the nearest table. I ignore how right it felt to place my hand around her waist or how she seemed to fit perfectly in my arms every time I carry her. I went to pick up the fallen crutch and made my way back to her.

They swarm towards me like bees, I don't even know what happened or why they're running towards the entrance. "Oh my gosh..." I muttered as they ran towards me I turned back to run too because I don't know why they were running,some of them even fell down . I wasn’t sure if it was because of the adrenaline from falling, or because I was so close to him, but for a moment, I forgot how to breathe. “What are you doing?” Joseph asked, breaking me from the small trance I was in. This time, there was less patience in his tone. He kept his hold on me for only a moment longer before setting me on the ground. My heart was still racing, as I looked up at the perimeter of the bookshelf. I fell a long way and he caught me so easily. This was only deepening my suspicion of him. I looked down at the manuscripts that surrounded the floor, frowning.

The sensation of being lifted. Maya’s voice again, breaking. “Please, she has to be okay. Please.” I wanted to tell her I was fine. That she didn’t need to worry. As I tried to drop my right foot down to the next step, I tripped, and the book fell off my hand, and I began to fall, but held on to the ladder. Unfortunately, the ladder began to creak as I had a firm grip on the ladder. “Oh, no.” I said in a shaky voice.

Everything inside me goes still. My mind tries to reject it, but my body reacts first. My eyes stay locked on the words in disbelief. My knees buckle. The book falls from my hand and lands on the floor with a heavy thud. I barely feel myself going down. One second ago I was standing, and now I am on the ground. The cold stone bites into my palms as I try to steady myself too late. The hidden library looks like what they haven’t taken care of in a long while, so the floor looks dirty and rusted.
