Enter the Shadows
The path was closing fast, throwing up dust that obscured their escape.
Moments after clearing the dune, it closed with a massive thud behind them. A cloud of sand rained down, causing them to cover their faces. Exhausted and shaken, they collapsed on the ground to gather themselves. The dune was seamless. On the surface, there was no sign that a crack was ever there.
“I’m getting too old for this,” Zigor said. He was on his pack, his pack preventing him from being completely horizontal.
Somehow, Helick found humor in them almost being pulverized between the rocks. “I take it back,” Helick said. “The villagers may be on to something.”
