CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN: Near death experience. Everything seemed to slow down as I felt myself falling, my vision blurring at the edges. I saw Kane's face, his eyes wide with horror and concern, as he reached out to catch me. I saw Marcus, his expression twisted in satisfaction. And I saw a figure, standing just behind Marcus, a figure I couldn't quite make out. As I fell, I felt a sense of weightlessness, as if I was floating through the air. My mind was a jumble of thoughts and images, memories flashing through my mind like a slideshow.

Her eyes went crimson as the pain flooded over her. She realized she had to flee from him as quickly as possible. Her instincts shouted for safety, pushing her to keep a safe distance from him. She noticed that the lift was not moving when she looked at the floor number. “Why…. why is this lift not moving”

Finally, my fading vision caught sight of her, and I felt my heart break. For the first time I couldn't save her. I felt pathetic as I crawled towards her, hoping to reach her before I lost my vision. However, it was too late. I had used up my strength, and there was nothing more that I could do. With tears streaming down my cheeks, I felt the light leave my eyes as I slowly slipped into the darkness.

I opened my mouth to scream but no sound came out. The edges of my vision darkened, went black, and then moved inward slowly, contracting into a smaller and smaller circle… And down I went, limp and helpless into the earth. The circle closed over my eyes, and all that was left was black, and the feeling of falling… down, down, down…

I helped steady her as she rose, noticing the fresh tears that had formed in the corners of her eyes. Lastly, I moved to my friend, Maeve who had the saddest eyes of all, a dark brown that pools that seemed to hold the weight of the world now. As he opened them slowly and saw our grim surroundings, dread filled his gaze. "I know bro, I know..." I said quietly. "But, it's time to wake up."

The pressure became unbearable. I fall to my knees. Weak, too weak. A single tear roll down my eyes. Because I know as I fall, it will be MoonHaven falling.

My hands shake uncontrollably and my heart starts getting slower by the second. I look up at the sky as the sun shines overhead. Its brilliance daze me further and I sway, my energy and sight going away. I can't afford to pass out now. Especially not when the rogue is now on his foot and is approaching me with predator steps. But my body is gradually giving out and my senses have almost faded. With my still blurry vision, I see him approaching me as he growls and I reach out with my hands for something to hold on to. But there isn't anything and I am falling.

She was so frustrated after seeing her again and then losing her. "Lady, who are you?" Angela asked in the dim light, "And what exactly do you expect from me?" She reflected on the situation. She then noticed something. It was initially serene, which she mistook for a breeze. She later realized it was controlled muffled crying. It was emanating from the forbidden veranda. She took a step back, shaken. The wind blew coldly against her skin, making her want to run, but as the crying became clearer, she recognized the voice.

I didn't feel safe here. As soon as I neared the light, I closed my eyes from its intense glare. As soon as I closed my eyes, I felt my feet gave out from under me. I looked down and realized that I was falling. I waved my hands and cried out as I fell. My body felt heavy and it seems as though I was falling from a far distance, because I could not see the ground.

It is slow, deliberate, causing me to experience everything that comes at me all at once and let it consume me. The first thing I see are his eyes. I watch them go wide as I feel his hand slip from my wrist. And then, I'm falling, toppling backward, watching him grow farther away from me as my back heads for the pavement. The loud blare of a car horn breaks my trance, the shining of headlights from my left realizing that time is happening now, and it is very real, and now, very fast.
