My body lowered on the leather couch as I picked the first book on my stack. I was reading about the history of the pack which meant I had to go back to the first king. It was quite an interesting story and I did not have anywhere to go so I flipped page after page, the sound of the training warriors my comfort in a way. The first book was done in two hours, all six hundred pages of it. I placed it down, picking another and sitting back to indulge myself in history. It seemed my ability to remember everything I read was not shared with the wolves nor the speed I could read at.

Instantly, she skimmed through the shelves and looked for some books that will catch her attention. Just like that, while looking for books to buy and walking through every shelf ther is, time flew without Phoebe noticing. "What? It's been two hours already?" Phoebe murmurs as she looked at the time in her wrist watch. "I guess I was enjoying myself too much." She glanced at the books in her hands and smiled in contentment as she made her way to the cashier. 'Let's just buy four books for now then.' she thought. ---------- IT'S BEEN half an hour after she exited the bookstore and finally, it's lunch time. Feeling the hunger, Phoebe settled with eating at her favorite fastfood chain.

Perfect. As I flipped through the chapters, the story heated up fast. The protagonist, a shy librarian much like me, was cornered in the stacks by a dominant stranger. His hands roamed her body without mercy, fingers teasing her nipples until they ached, then dipping lower to claim her wetness. I shifted on the couch, feeling that familiar tingle between my legs. God, why did these books always get me so worked up? My thighs pressed together instinctively, seeking friction.

" I mean all of those and more." "Good, good. You called. Why? Anything yet?" "Actually, yes." Contrary to how I felt in the last hour, I could tell my excitement was clearly written on my face. " I read the books." "All of them?" Zoe was shocked because there were like a dozen books total in the chest and a good number of them were lengthy. " You read all of them in the last hour? "Jeez, no!" I exclaimed. Even if I was the fastest reader in the world there was no way I would do that. " I'm not that fast. I just read a couple of them, like three or four max and skimmed through the rest."

“I am not done with the book, but it already speaks to me.” Christopher wasn’t one who thought a reader had to read at a speed, finishing books in a day or two. To him, a reader was to read at a pace that worked for them, giving them the opportunity to understand and digest the text, so it was permanent in their memory. Her books were still stacked waiting for shelf space, the overflow of moving in that had not yet been fully absorbed. "They are." "You read fast," Raines said. "There are a lot of them." "How do you know I read fast?" "Because there are a lot of them and they are all different subjects. Someone who reads slowly tends to stay in one lane." Raines tilted her head. "What do you do? Specifically."

Crazy dimwits. I stay quiet and walk away from them as quickly as I could although I could still hear them laughing and calling me names. I walk straight to my locker and hurriedly take out the books I needed so I could get to class before Gabrielle and her minions catch up to me or even worse get to class before me.

What a spiteful little man, she thought. Caitlin wasted no time. She cracked open the first book, an old tome from the nineteenth century, thick, leather-bound. As she turned its frail and brittle pages, she went into speed-reading mode, reading the pages faster than she ever had in her life, looking for keywords, places, locations, ideas. Anything that would lead to another book, another idea, another lead, another clue. Anything with substance.

She said, standing up my eyes wide too shocked to even utter a single word as I looked at the books under the desk that she was talking about. Each book was like a bible, probably having more than a thousand pages and I had to read twenty of them in twenty-four hours. My head was already throbbing as Elizabeth closed the door behind her, my body slumping against the chair, all the excitement of working gone leaving nothing but dread. I picked up the first book, it being so heavy it felt like my arm would fall off. My hand turned the thick leather page, flipping through the pages.

"Exciting." Frowning, I clasp my hands together in front of me. Using his index finger, he wiggles a book out of its spot, with some difficulty. It looks as though the covers are stuck together, with suggests this library is old; probably older than me. "Action? Thriller?" I question. Those kinds of books that get your heart racing are my favourite. They draw you straight of reality, lulling you into a dream-like state where my imagination can run rampant, with no one to tell me otherwise. Moments to live for, in my eyes.
