The Wild Side of Despair
The door remained stubbornly closed, as if mocking my efforts.
And then, like a flood, the memories came rushing back. Memories of a time when I was trapped, helpless and scared. The walls seemed to close in on me, the room suddenly feeling too small, too confining.
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, my breath coming in short, ragged gasps. I closed my eyes, trying to push away the memories, trying to calm my racing heart.
"Miss Forbes?" His voice broke through my panic, a beacon of calm in the storm of my fear. I turned to look at him, my eyes wide with fear.
