I stared out over the balcony, watching the horizon darken as the sky bruised into unnatural purple.
“No,” I whispered. “If she rises, the world will fall.”
“But the prophecy”
“The prophecy predicted the rise of the Moon-Blessed,” I interrupted. “It never said what rises with them.”
That shut him up.
The final tremor was small delicate, almost affectionate. The stone beneath my feet warmed.
She was close enough to touch the world again.
“Clara,” Mavryn breathed, “what do we do?”
I turned, power rolling off me in a cold, precise wave.
