According to the movies I'd watched, vampires were immortal beings who only got killed by the sun or some poisonous plant named vervain. They possessed so many supernatural powers but got very slow and weak if they didn't consume human blood. I stared at this man again and wondered what his problem was. But suddenly, his gasps became louder and his legs became weaker. He slumped on the ground and stopped moving. I felt a teardrop escape from my eye as I rushed to him and knelt down next to him, panicking heavily. I hesitantly shook him but he didn't move. My panic began to rise as I shook him harder but he still didn't move.

Becca was interrupted when Shier pushed her inside her bedroom. Then Shier gave a devilish smirk towards Alexander and said, “I have a spell surrounding the manor. The balcony was an open space, so you could enter, but let’s see how you enter now, you vampire.” With that, Shier closed the balcony door and slapped Becca in the face. “Wha—” she was interrupted by Shier. “You insolent girl! I raised you up right and you are flaunting your romance with a fucking vampire. Do you know what a vampire did to us?” he yelled and took out a whip which he secretly kept in Becca’s room in her absence.

Evelyn stormed back into the room, shaking her head at the brothers. All three heads look toward the door at the back of the room when it bursts open, and more vampires flood in. “He's not here, so let's get out of here,” Evelyn said as she grabbed Grayson and then reached out and grabbed Ezra. Ezra's lip tugged up when he felt something he'd been looking for but had stayed just out of grasp until this moment. His eyes began to glow red as he raised his hand and snapped his fingers. Evelyn took a sharp breath in when the 10 vampires who flooded into the room suddenly dropped to the floor.

I ignore the severe twinges of pain from clinging and with a large fireball, I manage to eliminate them. I release my grip on the chandelier to make myself fall below, but as soon as my legs touch the ground, I begin to see fade. I can’t see in time that the vampires have approached me, that I feel five bites through my body.

I guess we’ll find out. I climbed to the other side of the railing before letting my body fall. I felt my soul leave my body as I was falling down. I braced myself for impact before closing my eyes. The voice in my head was talking but I couldn’t even understand as I was focused on falling. I suddenly felt arms wrap around my body and was brought down. My eyes shot open and saw the vampire with red eyes. I stared in shock and he looked at me with a smirk. He chuckled softly as if everything was a joke before putting me down on the grass.

And just like that the nameless turd disappeared. I started to get up but without even making any step at all I collapsed and eyelids started to get droopy, my body was shutting down and is starting to surrender to darkness. What the actual heck did that b*tch of a vampire do to me. *****

Without a warning, the vampire scaled the trellis to the second story in a single leap and propelled me onto the balcony, ripping a strangled gasp from my lungs. From there, the vampire ordered me to climb on her back and after I did—holding on tightly as my life depended on it, which it did—she jumped up, grabbing the wrought iron on the third-story fire escape. Her body swung in a graceful arc as she propelled the both of us onto the wide ledge of the bay window. “We are here,” she finally whispered and I automatically slid off her back, catching my fucking breath. I literally flew on the back of a vampire. Could vampires fly? Even though I just flew on the back of one, I couldn’t believe

My body collided with his, knocking him away from Benita just in time. We tumbled across the ground, a chaotic mix of fur and vampire strength. I landed on top of him, pinning him down. A deep, vibrating growl erupted from my chest, echoing through the clearing like a thunderclap. The sheer force of my growl made everyone freeze in their tracks but not Damien. He kept on hissing at me while struggling against my hold. But my grip was unyielding, fueled by a primal fury that surged through my veins.
