“You know, I’m surprised by how interesting some of it is. I never liked learning about the facts and figures, but these old stories – they have character. I can imagine them being passed down, told around a campfire, that sort of thing.”
“The history taught in schools is not comprehensive. Unfortunately, nor is it interesting, much of the time. I grew up here,” he said, as he shuffled around behind the front desk. He had a little plaque with his name on it, too, as well as an assorted stack of books and a photo frame, which I could only see the back of.
“You did?” I prompted. He seemed distracted, rummaging around the desk and sending a few papers flying.
