Aiden landed a solid hit to Ethan’s jaw, revealing the street-hardened side he had buried long ago. “Enough!” Their mother’s voice cracked like a whip. She marched forward and slapped Aiden hard across the face. “How dare you humiliate your brother in front of everyone? After everything this family has sacrificed for you both!” Aiden touched his stinging cheek, breathing heavily. “Sacrificed? He’s the one who nearly ruined us.” His mother’s eyes blazed. “You will welcome him properly, Aiden…” The party continued awkwardly, but the damage was done. Despite my initial resistance, I had to admit it felt good to have a brotherly figure around. Ever since I was forced to take my older brother's life, I've felt the absence of a sibling deeply. Leo has filled that void in his own way, making sure I never felt alone or missed having a brother.

Beatrice’s POV I find myself drawn to my brother's photo like a magnet. With no one else around, I can really take a moment to look at him and remember. But this version of him feels different from the brother I knew. He was my older brother, my mom's other kid. Twelve years older, he always had my back, took me to the movies, drove me to Tae Kwon Do, cracked jokes, and teased me. The tough guy in the picture is a stranger to me.
