He took off his hoodie, leaving only his boxer shorts. Flashing his muscles a bit, he jumped the ropes to get into the ring and face his opponent. Kyle was many things, but he was also a big show-off, and the others seemed to love him for it. The noise returned, with cheers for both Kyle and Xavier, echoing so loudly it could be heard for miles from the gym floor.

As such, Valencia merely watched as Kyle mostly dragged the hycwen that was almost triple his size and weight to the forest while Fryege tried to look useful. After about five minutes, they returned to the house, while Fryege was panting, Kyle had not even broken a sweat. He looked like he could do drag 100 more such hycwens.

His wolf was massive, and the look he held in his eyes was terrifying, even though he wasn’t angry yet. One of them took a step forward. Kyle bared his teeth, his fur bristling, and the size of him made the ground seem to tremble. They ran for their lives with their tails in between their hind-legs. Kyle watched them disappear into the trees, then sighed. He turned around, catching the scent of the hare again, and in one great leap, he caught the hare mid-run. It squealed once before falling limp in his jaws. Kyle didn’t move for a while. He stood over the catch, still watching the shadows, wondering what exactly was happening..

I stick close to the lockers, avoiding open spaces, my heart jumping at every laugh that sounds too close. Almost there. I can see my classroom door. A few more steps and I’m safe. Invisible again. Then the energy shifts. I feel it before I see him. The air tightens, like the hallway inhales all at once. Laughter sharpens. Voices grow louder, more confident. I look up. Owen Kyle appears at the far end of the hall, surrounded by his friends. Tall. Relaxed. Untouchable. He walks like he has nowhere else to be and all the time in the world to get there.
