Sera POV The morning after the howl felt heavier than any silence I had ever known. It was not quiet in the literal sense. Wolves still moved through Ravenwood. Fires were relit. Children laughed in brief, unguarded bursts before being hushed by worried parents. Life continued, stubborn and ordinary. But beneath it all was a pressure that pressed against my ribs, a shared awareness that something irreversible had begun. A question had been asked the night before. No one had answered it.

Then I thought of Evan screaming under my hands because he had followed my scent into a trap. I exhaled slowly. “I’ll learn,” I said. Colton closed his eyes for one brief second.
