Novel Flight Novels & Stories

Heading to the library alone, I feel sadder the more I am getting nearer to my destination. “I don’t like this.” I mumble while pouting my lips. Airo isn’t here today so I took the book he always reads. It’s my time to fill my head with some useful information about this so-called parallel universe. I spend the rest of my time reading it even though most of it seems impossible to understand. I could get a nosebleed with this out of the world’s words. Closing the book, I just notice a man in all poker glaring at me.

Not being chased. But for the first time... for someone. And this flight was harder than any battle. Because it wasn't his body driving him forward anymore. It was what he had always denied: That he no longer wanted to carry the weight alone. The stars shone coldly above them, like a thousand silent eyes watching from the depths of night as Kael cut through the air. With each motion, his wings beat soundlessly, steadily, with a confidence that defied the moment he once believed he'd never fly again.

~ Avelyn ~ The flight was quiet. Too quiet. Kyle didn’t sit beside me. He kept his distance like proximity might weaken his resolve. His men handled everything — documents, transfers, vehicles waiting at landing. No names were spoken. No real location was shared. Just movement. City after city dissolved beneath clouds until even I lost track of direction. By the time we reached the coastline, the air felt different. Saltier. Wider. Like the world had stretched open and swallowed noise whole.

VIOLET A nervous energy hummed beneath my skin. It was the first time I was going to fly in a plane. And not just any ordinary plane. We were going to Italy in one of his Uncle’s jet and it appeared bigger than the usual one. I had heard him talking to his uncle on a video call. Cole had denied his uncle’s offer and mentioned that we could fly business class but his uncle had pushed. Cole had said, “But, seriously, I’d rather not have my wife in that jet where you spent your days partying and doing God knows what not.”

And when I got bored, I ate a nice meal while watching anime, then read a novel. Slept off while gaming online at this point I was convinced my mom and I suffered severe anxiety. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have begun our descent into Paris, please..." the lead flight attendant announced then trailed off and my eyes drew to the reason. My heart stopped as I saw it... The airplane's wing was on fire.

The first few attempts were… awkward. One wing lifted. The other lagged behind. Then both flapped at once, nearly knocking me sideways. I laughed nervously. “This is ridiculous.” The books had mentioned flight. But they had made it sound much simpler than this. Still. I tried again. This time I focused on balance. On the steady pulse of magic flowing through my body. Slowly, carefully, I pushed the wings downward. A rush of air swept around me. My feet lifted from the ground. Just barely.

he whispered into my hair and I knew if I craned my neck I'd find a giddy smile matching my own on his face. "You took me for a ride on your back when you shifted. I think it's only fair I take you for a flight around the area. I need to test out these bad boys," I flexed my new set of wings finding them easy to control—I hoped that meant they were this easy to control up in the skies. Flying was a lot like walking. It took time to learn but eventually, every fae mastered it. "You want to do what with me? How would that even work and what if you drop me?"

Caitlin flew, the sky streaked with a million colors in the sunset. After her heartbreaking goodbye with Caleb, she had lifted into the sky and had not stopped flying since. She had cried for hours, but now, finally, the tears subsided, hardened on her face. She was slowly coming to a new, steely resolve. As she had always been in life, she was on her own. She had never been able to rely on the comfort and safety of a father, or brother, or boyfriend.

Today was the day, the first step in starting anew. Jake boarded the plane, and the journey felt surreal. The excitement of flying to a new country filled him with adrenaline. When Jake walks down the aisle looking for his seat, he approaches what he thinks is row 10. Jake heaved his small carry-on suitcase up and shoved it into the overhead compartment.

He took a slow breath, his voice low and sure. “Geneva,” he said. “Direct flight.” The engines roared to life, a deep, commanding growl that seemed to echo the turmoil in his chest. As he fastened his seatbelt and stared out the window, the city lights began to blur beneath him, sharp, dazzling fragments of a life he no longer recognized. He wasn’t flying for business. He wasn’t flying for revenge. He was flying to see her, Elara. To look her in the eyes and finally tear open the truth that had been festering in the dark far too long.
