I knew Leigh would definitely come seek me out.
So I dragged myself out of bed, wincing at the mirror's reflection. Swollen eyes stared back, red rimmed and puffy. My skin looked pale, my hair tangled.
"Ugh," I muttered, turning away from the unpleasantness I beheld in the mirror.
In the shower, warm water washed away the remnants of tears, but not the ache within. I scrubbed my face, trying to erase the evidence of my heartbreak and sorrow.
As I dried off, I examined my eyes. They were still swollen. I rummaged through my makeup bag for concealer and cold compresses. A few quick dabs and gentle presses reduced the puffiness.
