Warren and I stepped forward, paws sinking into the soft grass, before leaning into each other’s side.
With a shared breath, we shifted—fur dissolving into skin, claws receding, tails disappearing into the curve of our spines. The change was fluid, almost instinctive now, leaving us both blinking at the world in human form.
“You look… less terrifying,” I teased, brushing damp hair from my face.
“Fewer fangs, maybe,” Warren said, eyes narrowing playfully. “But still the same charming personality.”
“Charming? You mean terrifyingly overconfident,” I shot back, smirking.
