Kael disappeared. Not faded. Not slipped. Not dragged. He blinked out of existence—like a flame smothered between fingers—leaving the darkness quaking around the absence he left behind. My scream tore from my throat so violently it felt like it ripped the inside of me open. “KAEL!” Nothing answered. Not even an echo. The void swallowed the sound whole, greedy and silent. “No,” I breathed, stumbling forward, grasping at the air where he’d been. “No, no, no—bring him back—”

Her desperate cries echoed through the room before she let out another screech. Completely lost in her own grief, the sounds of her screams shrouding any other noise, she didn’t notice the windows and mirror slowly starting to crack around her before shattering in an explosion of glass shards, nor did she feel them impaling her. Her cries too drowned out the rushed footsteps of Penny and Aggie as they tore through the house.

The burning she felt as if those eyes were staring straight into her soul, wishing her destruction. Suddenly they laugh in the silent night, mercilessly, sharp, and devilish as if they were satisfied, absolutely satisfied with something. Another laugh joins, another and another until there is a lot of laughing layers in the air. It struck her eardrums, ringing in her head. It was too loud, deafening. The laughing echoes instead of wild animals. The mocking echoes instead of the wind. Within the creepy ambiance that promises nothing to its occupants. She got the true nightmares, all through the night, screaming and begging to escape.

Frustration welled up inside me, and I let out a scream, a raw, primal sound that echoed through the apartment . “Show yourself!” I shouted into the silence, my voice echoing off the walls. “You think you can scare me? You think you can hurt the people I love and get away with it? I swear, when I find you, I’ll—” I froze mid-sentence, realizing how ridiculous I sounded. I was shouting into an empty apartment, threatening a ghost. But the fear, the anger, the sense of helplessness—it all had to go somewhere, and this was all I had left.

The void swallowed them whole, a chasm of nothingness that stretched into eternity. Elena felt herself falling, her body weightless, her mind spinning like a leaf caught in a hurricane. The darkness pressed in on all sides, cold and suffocating, its whispers promising oblivion, promising peace, promising an end to all suffering. She could hear Kaelen's voice, faint and distant, calling her name through the void. She reached for him, her fingers brushing against his, but the darkness was too strong. It pulled them apart, dragging them into its depths like a riptide.

she screamed, her voice echoing off the walls. "This is why we keep fighting because it feels like we're shouting into a void. Our words fall on deaf ears and our attempts at communication are met with silence. It's as if we're speaking different languages, unable to bridge the gap between us. I long for the version of you that I used to know and cherish. Who on earth has manipulated your mind so severely?" Her voice came out as a high-pitched squeak. Her eyes are brimming with emotion, and I am utterly captivated by her gaze. My body is tingling and my thoughts are jumbled, making me feel strange and out of place.

A loud, painful scream rent the air: "Ahhhhh!!"

[The Hunger of 7.0] The scream wasn't coming from my throat, but it was vibrating through my teeth. It was a sound like grinding glass and dying stars, a digital hunger that felt like a swarm of insects crawling beneath my skin. The Heir wasn't just a voice anymore; it was a ghost trying to claw its way out of my chest to take its first real breath.

LYRA Pressing my fingertips to James’s temples, I take a deep breath and close my eyes. I am met with incredible darkness. Looking to my left and to my right I cannot see anything. A frown crosses my lips. When I was in the void it was never this dark, I was able to see a few feet in front of me. But this darkness is consuming. It feels alive. Slimy tendrils try to reach into my mind as I wander through the void. I build up walls in my mind to keep my emotions safe.
