I waited till I was completely sure that the hunters were already far away from me. I could still remember the gun from the hooded man. Phoenix wasn’t aware of a weapon like that. Things were extremely bad. Phoenix wasn’t so careless that he would assume that none of the enemy had a weapon like a gun just because he didn’t see any indication of it before. After all it was normal for the hunters to have silver bullet carrying guns. But there was something else going on here. Some sinister plan and the hooded man was the master planner.

I grip the edge of the couch, each heartbeat thudding loudly in my ears, as I wait for Armando to return, praying he’ll be alright. The eerie calm is shattered by a deafening crash as a glass shatters in the kitchen, fragments raining down onto the tile like deadly confetti. I scream, my heart racing, as a tall man materializes in the shadows. He wears a leather jacket that hugs his muscular frame, tattoos snaking up his neck—a menacing sight. In his hand, he grips a small handgun, its cold metal gleaming ominously in the dim light.

At 5'10", her presence commanded attention, but she preferred to stay unnoticed. Her dark skin glowed under the morning sun, and her eyes, a striking shade of amber, held secrets untold. She pulled her hood tighter, hoping to shield herself from the prying eyes she could already feel on her. She sighed, remembering the last town, the last school, the last narrow escape. The coven was always a step behind her, their sinister intentions cloaked in shadow but ever-present. She couldn’t afford to grow attached, couldn’t afford to make friends or enemies. But she knew this routine all too well. Blend in, keep your head down, and move on before anyone gets too close.

Right now, there were only the shadow wolves who were still surrounding us while groaning and getting more and more aggressive. "Do not do it!" whispered the man pointing a gun at my head. I got goosebumps hearing his voice. "We still need them—those shadow wolves. If you eliminate them, then we will all be in trouble." My neck is very stiff. I wanted to turn around and look at the figure pointing a gun at me. But, as I moved, he pressed the muzzle of his gun against my temple even more. "Don't move, and never turn around to look at me. Focus in front of you and listen to our words."

He said, his voice soft as silk. He turned to Alexander, a dark glint in his eye. "Bring me the iron rod." He ordered sharply without hesitation. Alexander nodded and moved to the far corner of the dungeon, returning moments later with a long and heavy iron rod. The rogue's eyes widened as Alexander held it upward, the flickering torchlight reflecting off its shinning surface.

"I heard everything. Through the door. And I am coming with you." "You heard the message. I go alone." "You go with someone Victoria will not see. Someone who can stay hidden until you need backup." She held up her phone. "I have been tracking your location since this started. I have Morrison on speed dial. And I have this." She pulled a small handgun from her purse. "Since when do you carry a gun?" "Since my best friend started walking into death traps every other day." She checked the safety with practiced ease. "My ex taught me before we broke up. I am actually a decent shot."

She hit record for a quick voice note. “Episode Two teaser,” she whispered, her voice still husky from everything that had happened today. “When the shadow claims you, do you run… or let it swallow you whole?” She uploaded it, then closed the app. One small piece of her life that still belonged only to her. Someone said behind them. Node and Lazarus were spooked. They turned, saw a being in a long loosened-fitting robe and a headcloth held in place of a band while having a sheathed scimitar on both sides, sitting on a four legged desert-beast reptile holding a four big canteens filled with water. Damn, my guard was awfully lowered. I… the Shadow Inhumane! Lazarus thought as his wrist reapers glowingly forged from both hands. The desert-beast reptiles hissed as it drew out its fork-shaped tongue.

I saw a flash run past me in my peripheral vision, but I knew there was no one else out here and it was likely the chaos of the moment. I saw Jace reach for his gun and move onto the porch, but I turned my head slightly to see his dad already standing with his gun drawn and pointed at Jace. "You don't have the balls fairy! Come on and fucking do it already! All I can say is you better not miss because if you do, I won't!" Bud stood defiantly, yeah, the drug didn't work. "Fuck you, you sorry excuse for a man!" Jace raised his gun and pointed it at his dad, I exhaled and pulled the trigger just as a sharp pain hit me from behind.

This was not over yet, we were just moving to the next phase. A shot rang from behind me, breaking the rogue’s concentration for a split second, that second was enough for me to pounce and knock the gun from his hands. I vaguely noticed a large group of rogues emerge from the forest with weapons blazing. Now it looked like a warzone. Not wanting to waste any more time my jaws clamped over the stranger’s neck. ‘This is for my family.’ I said in his mind as I tightened my jaw enough to pierce his trachea, but not quite kill him.
