"Down there. In the structure. Having a conversation with her mother about what it means when the person you thought was training you was actually using you. When the entire architecture of your life was built by someone who'd already decided what you were going to do before you were old enough to refuse." Simon was standing very still. The way he stood when he was listening to something underneath what was being said. I could feel him processing whatever frequency Rourke was operating on, whatever signal he was broadcasting. "She didn't know," Simon said. "Who? Elena or Maren?" "Either of them."

“You’re stuck with me now, Riley. Haunted houses, demons, whatever comes next… I’ll protect you and fuck you through all of it.” Riley smiled, adrenaline still buzzing. “I think I believe in ghosts now… because that was otherworldly.”

I don’t know why I didn’t scream for the others to help, but I felt a sense of calm wash over me, so I stood rooted to the floor. “I do not mean to frighten you, Ryan. I am here because I need help, and you are the only one I believe can help me. Will you hear me out, please?” I couldn’t speak, so I just nodded. He took three steps closer to me. There was only a foot of distance between us. His scent hit me hard—he smelled of wildflowers and trees. I loved wildflowers. He chuckled as if he knew what his close proximity was doing to me. With a mischievous grin, he revealed his ability to mimic the faces of others, his features shifting and morphing with uncanny ease. Two figures emerged from the Crescent Claws ranks, their faces hidden beneath cloaks of shadow. Ryan, the master of branches and seeds, and Dray, the shadow hunter, revealed themselves, their presence sending a wave of unease through the gathered clans. The Silver Paw clan and the Moonstone clan exchanged wary glances, their hands instinctively reaching for their weapons.

' 'I should have just let him die. A cruel glint flashed across Rhein's eyes as he let the monster around the vast back garden in circles. As he was sprinting all the way, his strength was soon sapped. At that very moment, he saw Simon still kneeling there, and a glint appeared in his eyes. He immediately darted over as he shouted, "Simon, get out of the way!" Simon subconsciously looked up and saw the Rhein running towards him with the monster in tow. He let out an uncontrollable yell as he scampered and tried to get up to run.

Riley placed her palms on that ghost's chest to push him away but the ghost won't even budge. "P...please ghost." She stammered. "Shhhh..." The ghost hushed her and she froze. Her breath hitched when she felt the stubble of the ghost on her cheek. OH, GOD! Ghost was a male spirit! Her fingers gripped the fabric of his shirt tightly in a fist as she felt the warm lips of the ghost on her cheek.

Till the police stopped looking for him. “Get out of the car, Simon. I don’t hope we meet again, cause I might end up shooting you in the head,” Gonzalez grumbled. “Same goes for me mate,” Simon smiled victoriously, and alighted from the vehicle. Gonzalez pushed all the dead bodies of his men on the highway and zoomed off, before he did. Simon had crammed the plate number of the vehicle. Jiroo stifles a loud laugh while shaking his head as he's gathering his babies from the enemy's neck. "Of course." I said smugly. Simon used his ring to finally seal the papers and with his trembling hands, he handed me the paper and I smiled at him genuinely. "Thank you so much!" I said sincerely and as I turned around, Simon was already choking and blood spurting out of his neck, he was trying to stop the bleeding while catching his breath. "Sorry but you are the target." I said as I looked over my shoulder and saw Simon's body fell on the ground with a loud thud as his head hit the floor, eyes open and staring at me in betrayal. "Rule number one, never trust a Demon assassin."
