The horse's body was well-built and looked dashing. There is no doubt about its cleanliness and how it is maintained. Maybe if described it will only make Miya feel jealous. “Is this horse named Orion?” asked Miya who seemed hesitant to stroke the mane of the horse not far from her standing. “Take it slow, Miss. Orion is a docile and approachable breed,” the handler explained.

I wonder what my grandfather was hiding and why he refused to tell me the truth. As I unloaded the horses from the trailer, I couldn't help but take in the breathtaking equestrian facility before me. The barn was massive, measuring two hundred by three hundred feet. The left side of the barn housed twenty spacious stalls, each with a window for natural light and ventilation. The wash bay was spotless, and the two grooming bays were equipped with everything a horse could need to look their best. The large tack room, with its swivel door, was a horse lover's dream. It was spacious enough to store everything from saddles to bridles and had plenty of room to move around.

*Shut it,* I snapped at her, rolling my eyes. We reached the stables, where the three other warriors who would accompany us on the journey were waiting. I saw the horses prepared for us, and I felt a little excitement bubble up. They were magnificent creatures, each one strong and muscular, built for both speed and endurance. But it was the white stallion at the front that caught my eye. Its coat was pure white, not a speck of dirt in sight, gleaming in the sunlight. It looked agile yet powerful, with just the right amount of muscle to enhance its aesthetic appeal. Absolutely perfect! “That one’s yours,” Calum said, noticing how I was staring at the horse.

Enrique said quickly, then he turned to me and asked, “You want to ride, mi amor?” “Su—sure, I would love to.” Although feeling nervous, I croaked a reply, quickly scanning the stable for a white stallion. I saw it next to the black Arabian thoroughbred’s box stall. This white stallion was my favorite of all the horses the Winner Family has. This was the horse I had been training together with auntie’s stepson, Lorde, while we were still fifteen. I called him Trinitus—a handsome Andalusian horse. With a click on his boots, Eriol strolled towards the wall, where there were a couple of other whips and crops hung upside down. He placed the flogger there and then went back to our attention.

I stood by one of the stall, admiring the horses alpha Cormac’s mount, a striking black stallion, that pawed at the ground impatiently. "His name is Hades" he mumbled running his hands through the mane, I nodded but my gaze was drawn to the smaller horse

Malric stood near the far side with a few male wolves, tending to the horses they planned to use. I spotted Lucien immediately. And beside him was Valor. I still remembered the white stallion’s name. But my lycan king? He stood between two horses. One was a giant black stallion. The other, a brown horse with white markings splashed across its coat. “So odd,” I murmured, oddly amused by his very specific taste. Irene chuckled beside me, immediately catching my meaning. “That’s the king’s favourite.” She pointed toward the black stallion. “Though once in a while, he rides the brown one.”

I had a school assignment to complete, but Knox brought me to Maddox’s dad’s sprawling equestrian facility, where they trained fine breeds for sale and races. “We’ll just pick up Maddox and go.” We stood at the riding arena, watching the trainers at work, when someone caught my attention. I turned to watch a Greek God-like guy training a black stallion effortlessly. The guy was stunning with his dark hair and muscled, tanned bare torso on full display. He stood out amongst all, pulling me towards him like a magnet. Watching him somehow made me feel he was aware of my gaze on him. It seemed he was putting on a show for me!

“Very true. Okay, take me there so I can see what our staff are made of.” We walk side by side in comfortable silence until we reach the pen where all the men are gathered to watch as the new stallion is broken in. He is a good size for a three yearling, easily sixteen hands possibly a touch more. He is a tan and brown colour with a dark patch on his nose, and highly spirited.

I asked, eyeing the fine creatures for something familiar, trying to inject a bit of lightness into the heavy mood, my words coming out quiet. He didn’t answer at first, his quietness ringing loud, his face shut down, making it clear he wasn’t up for chatting. I edged closer, taking in his tense jawline, and my chest felt heavy. “I’ll go with Brown Starlight,” he said at last, flashing a quick half-smile as he led out a sturdy chestnut stallion. “I’ll claim Thunder, the white one with the wild blaze,” Sarah chimed in, her tone upbeat and almost buoyant, as she approached a glossy mare, her bottled-up excitement spilling over the awkwardness.
