“Alright. Then we’re really starting from zero.” Alaric studied me for a long moment. Then, slowly, the corners of his mouth lifted. Not a smirk. Not a teasing grin. But a smile filled with certainty. “Yeah,” he said, his voice deep, steady. “From zero.” And at that moment, I knew. We were finally ready to move forward. *** I thought that once we decided to start over, everything would feel lighter. I thought that by leaving the past behind, I would finally be able to breathe easier. But life doesn’t work that way.

“Then stop trying to live with it. Live beyond it.” He studies me for a long moment. “You sound sure.” “I’m not. But I’m tired of letting pain define everything.” He turns to the sea again, quiet. “So what do we do now?” “Start over,” I say simply. “Not as people trying to fix the past. Just… as us.” He lets that sink in. “And what does that look like?” I smile softly. “Maybe a new place. Somewhere without memories.” His eyes flick to mine. “You want to move?”

“I’ll be back lots of times. And we’ll get to eat all the ice cream we want. What do you think about that, huh?” At this, he lit up. “Promise?” I gave him an emotional smile. “Promise.” Now that the goodbyes were complete, I guess I had to leave. Start over with a clean slate. I strongly believe that starting over in Stanton City will be better, I’ll be able to put everything behind me and start over on a clean slate.

Alot has happened in our lives, that sometimes with widen eyes, I ask myself on how we survived that. Having Roman back into my life, has been the greatest blessing, God could have given me. I am truly happy where I am and I have no reason to run anymore. He gives me all the reasons to stay and makes damn sure, what I deserve, I get. He is who I deserve and I love him with all of my heart. I literally just want a begin again, this time, with all our questions answered, puzzle pieces fitted together and happiness, staring us in the face.
