It was a smell—the smell of jasmine and old paper. A figure stepped out from the shadows of the library. It wasn't a soldier. It was the Librarian from her visions. But this time, he looked solid. He looked real. “You are early, Faith Nightshade,” the Librarian said. The school is burning, Faith said. “I don't have time for riddles.”

I would be able to stay in hiding there for a few hours, or maybe even the entire day until Victor returns. The library's stationed on the second floor behind a pair of heavy oak doors. Changing personalities from time to time. The section on Moonwhisperers wasn’t hard to find; it occupied an entire wall of carefully preserved volumes with a small sign at the top of the shelf that read “Fragile.” I selected several books that looked promising and settled into one of the oversized leather armchairs tucked into a quiet corner near the back.
