LOGINLylia grew up in the province orphaned and poor, caring for a sick sibling and surviving through sheer grit. With barely any capital, she built a small eatery near the cockpit arena, their only source of income. Her world collapsed when she learned that Raze, the feared district captain, was the creditor of her late parents. To save her home and eatery from demolition, she accepted his cruel offer: marriage as payment for half of the debt. The rest would be paid by serving as a household helper in his home. Known as a strict and ruthless leader in District Abueña, Raze hid a dangerous secret, he was a billionaire tycoon. And when he returned to town, it was at the cockpit arena where he first saw Lylia, the woman destined to become part of his twisted plan. What began as a deal and a game would soon test hearts, would their forced marriage turn real, or leave one of them shattered in the end?

While I was serving customers from the cockpit arena, I noticed Lira and Love nudging each other like they were eyeing something outside the eatery. Moments later, they started whispering and giggling like giddy girls. What were those two whispering about? I followed their line of sight, and instinctively stepped back when I saw the District Captain. What was he doing here? “Hey, miss pretty, are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost,” Keano, one of our regular customers, teased. “Oh, nothing,” I replied, quickly looking away when my eyes met the Captain’s. “Do you still want to order anything?” “Nope, we’re already full, from your beauty,” he joked, earning laughter from his friends. “You’re so corny. Just eat already.” I shot back, playfully threatening him with the tray in my hands. “Ooh, feisty! Hey, Captain! Over here! There’s a beautiful lady here!” he waved in the captain’s direction. “Crazy!” I hurried away when I noticed the captain heading toward us. That Keano was always a trouble. “Miss pretty! Come back here! We’ll introduce you to the captain!” I shut my eyes tightly and shook my head. “I’m busy! You guys are unbelievable! Leave me alone!” I shouted back. When I reached the counter, I frowned as my sister and my friend suddenly approached me, both grinning. “What’s with those smiles?” I asked. They looked at each other and giggled like kids. “You and the captain would look good together,” they said in unison. “I thought I was just imagining it when he came to the district hall, but apparently not. He’s staying for good,” Love said, still smiling. “I don’t know what’s wrong with you two. Just get back to work—” “Miss pretty! Two servings of lumpiang shanghai and sisig, please!” Keano shouted, forcing me to return to their table. I didn’t know why my heart was pounding as I walked toward them. Of course, Keano had to tease again. It had been a long time since I last saw the captain in person, and now he looked… different. More mature. The last time I saw him, he was thin. Now his body was solid, obviously built from working out. He looked sexy and hot with his braided hair. “Miss pretty?” Keano snapped his fingers. I blinked and looked at him. Only then did I realize I was already at their table, staring straight at the captain. How embarrassing! “Oh, here!” I placed the food down in a panic, noticing that the captain’s eyes hadn’t left me. “Careful!” He quickly grabbed my hand when the hot soup nearly spilled onto it. “Are you hurt? Did it spill on you?” “N-No,” I replied softly, suddenly shy. I saw the corner of his lips lift, as if he were holding back a smile. When he looked up at me, I immediately averted my gaze. I pulled my hand away and turned around. “Enjoy,” was all I managed to say. As I walked back, I heard them laugh quietly, making my embarrassment deepen. “Her name is Lylia, right?” I heard the captain ask. “I like how soft her hand is.” I froze. Me? Soft hands? With all the work I do in this eatery? Impossible. — It was around six in the evening when the cockfight ended, so we began cleaning up. “Sis, aren’t they leaving yet?” Lira asked while wiping down the tables as I gathered the dishes. “I don’t know. Looks like they’re enjoying their conversation.” I continued working until I reached the captain’s table. “Excuse me, I’ll just take these,” I said, pointing to the plates. I ignored the captain’s stare and was about to take the dishes when he beat me to it. “Let me,” he said coldly. I let him. When he finished placing everything on the tray, I turned my back on them. “She didn’t even say thank you,” one of his companions remarked. “Let it go. That’s how miss pretty is,” Keano added. “Grumpy, but kind.” “That’s kinda rude, bro. She already ignored the captain earlier, and now she didn’t even say thanks? Women,” the guy scoffed. My ears burned at what he said. I took a deep breath and turned back to them. I slammed the tray onto the table and looked at the man with furrowed brows. “You were the one talking, right? Why are you the one complaining? Are you the captain?” I asked calmly, though deep inside, I wanted to punch him. “Yes, I am,” he admitted provocatively. “He helped you, and you couldn’t even say thank you?” I laughed. “You’re funny. Are you the captain? And actually, we’re closing now. What are you still doing here? Talking about me behind my back?” I turned to the captain, who was watching me intently. “Thank you very much for helping, Captain, but you didn’t have to. I could’ve handled it myself. Look at your friend, he’s already puffing up like a steamed bun,” I added sarcastically. The man stood up, clearly irritated. “Why don’t you tell her, Raze? That you’re here because of her debt!” he blurted out, stopping my world entirely. So… the captain was the one my parents owed money to? “Hey, hey, Ashel, calm down—” “Not now, Keano. That woman is getting on my nerves.” “So am I!” I shouted. “You’re here for my debt, right? Fine. I’ll pay!” But the truth was, I had nothing to pay them with. I was about to walk away when someone grabbed my hand. When I turned around, my heart stopped when I saw it was the captain. “W-What do you want now?” “I am here to demolish your house,” he said flatly, without a trace of emotion. “As of this moment.” “Y-You don’t have the right to do that,” I stammered. He smirked. “Sad to say, I do, since this is my property,” he said casually, slipping his hands into his pockets. “But I’d like to make you an offer.” I stepped back when he leaned closer to me. “A-And what is it?” “Be my wife.”Lia looked around, trying to figure out where she should station herself for the event, but the people inside the hall were far too busy, and she felt too shy to ask anyone passing by.Mustering up her courage, she was about to wave at a man when he suddenly raised an eyebrow at her."And you are?" he asked strictly. "It's my first time seeing your face here. A guest?" He scanned her from head to toe. "Impossible. In that outfit? It's impossible for you to be a guest. What do you need? Were you sent here on an errand?""N-No, Sir. Ah, I just came to check if the food delivered up here is all right," she answered, clasping her hands together as she bowed her head."So, you were sent on an errand? By Sir Titus? Oh, you must be the girl. The one being bullied? The one whose only contribution is her looks?"She didn't know if he was deliberately insulting her or if that kind of speaking manner was just his nature."From the cafeteria? Everything is fine. You don't have to check. I can man
Without blinking, Lia followed the man with her eyes, but she suddenly gasped in pain as she hit the floor hard. The crowd had begun shoving and pushing to chase after Raze, completely trampling over her.A swarm of people rushed in from the outside, followed by several media crews. She winced again as someone accidentally stepped on her fingers, forcing her to quickly pull her hand back and cradle it against her chest.Do these people not see me at all? She thought bitterly. Is the chairman really that powerful to be chased like this? Have they really been waiting for him this long just to cause a riot? Is he some kind of royalty?Looking up from the floor, she realized that seemed to be exactly the case. From head to toe, Raze looked every bit like royalty. His attire was impeccably tailored, and the intricate gold detailing on his suit commanded everyone's attention. He looked like a prince. She looked down and bit her lower lip when she noticed her fingers turning a deep, angry re
A month later, while everyone was busy preparing for the welcome party for the arrival of the chairman, the people in the cafeteria were just as swamped since they were catering the food for the attendees. And this wasn't just for ordinary guests, there were members of foreign nobility and royalty attending.Because of the chairman's months-long recovery, everything had to be extended, projects, major events, royal gatherings, and more. And now that he was returning, everyone couldn't hide their excitement to meet him. They were anticipating the homecoming of such royalty, the most awaited chairman and CEO of Empire Galaxy.“Lia, grab the mushrooms,” their chef, Titus, ordered. “And the toppings for the dessert.”Lia had been running back and forth since earlier, fetching everything Titus needed as he meticulously plated each dish. And as his assistant, that had been her sole responsibility since morning. After putting down the mushrooms and toppings, she stepped up to help arrange th
"Is he the one you were talking about?" Lia turned to Nicole, her hands clasped together as she leaned against the door."He is," Nicole replied, avoiding Razen's sharp, piercing gaze directed right at her."Nicole, what is the meaning of this? I told you not to—""I can't just stay silent and watch, Razen! If you can do it, I can't!" Nicole burst out angrily. "If he can help her, then why not, right? It's just blood. Don’t you feel even a bit guilty? She needs help, for her child. If you were in her position, do you honestly think you wouldn't do exactly what she's doing right now?"A heavy silence fell over the room."She needs our help, Razen. I hope you can understand that," Nicole added, before shifting her gaze back to Lia. "You can talk to him. He’s the one I was talking about. Raze." She pointed toward her cousin.Lia stood there in disbelief, her eyes darting back and forth between the two, the identical twins standing before her."Y-You have a twin, R-Raze?"Raze gave a slow
“If you can’t do it, I will. I can have my daddy’s men dispose of her,” I heard Sheila say in a flirtatious voice. “It’s easy, Raze. Just give me the word, and I’ll do it for you.”I pressed my hand tighter over my mouth and instinctively stepped back. I—I didn't expect this. Why? Why, Raze?“Let’s
“O-Okay,” I agreed. “What time? So I can close the eatery early.”“I’ll inform you. I have your number anyway.”I frowned. Number? He has my number? I don't recall ever giving it to him.“Don’t ask.” He looked away as if embarrassed. He must have noticed me thinking. “I got your number from someone
I felt him slow the car down before he turned to look at me.“Would you believe me if I said no?”I immediately looked away when our eyes met.“No,” I answered curtly. “You can just admit it.”“You might get angry and think I only did that to make it up to you, but no, Lyl, I just want to help you,
I remained silent, my eyes deliberately avoiding his as he fastened my seatbelt.“I’ll go back to the market later—”“Why? Because of your cousin and your ex?” I cut in bluntly, finally turning to face him. “Why did you even pull me away from there? Focus on what you should be focusing on. I’ll jus
