Celeste looked at her. “Good. The work ahead will not be done with fury. It will be done with steadiness. When you feel the old tremor rise, breathe. When you feel the old hunger to explain, do not. When you want to strike, count. When you must strike, strike to finish.”
Evelyn nodded, the words finding the places they belonged.
