I didn't even arrive school yesterday and a new Beta was insulting my friends. What do you think you are?” Caius stopped, paying no attention to Ash. “I have somewhere to be.” Ash smirked. “Then you’d better ask permission to pass.”

“But aren’t you the Alpha’s Beta? Surely he won’t mind if you step inside the room since you were tasked with the job of fetching me.” Rin seems to be hesitating, and I notice there is a gleam of fear in his blue eyes. It puzzles me. Why is the Beta afraid of his own Alpha? Something isn’t right here… “It would put me at ease if you came with me,” I say in a low voice, and my words are as shocking to me as they are to Rin. I’ve never had a filter, and my words are the truth: I would feel better if Rin accompanied me. But what bewilders me is that I can’t put a finger on why his presence would put me more at ease. The book was missing. “Beta, where did you keep the book? I want us to read it together,” Alpha Angelo said. “It's late Alpha, we will read it tomorrow and analyze everything together. Just get some rest and don't go into a rampage,” Beta Dagon said. “Okay, I will retire to bed. Remind me about the book tomorrow,” Alpha Angelo notified as he walked to his bedroom. “Sure thing. The first thing in the morning,” Beta Dagon said as he plucked himself on the couch.

I released a bit of my Alpha aura as anger flowed through me. His face remained the same. “Alpha, I'm not reprimanding you, I'm simply stating facts. You made me your Beta for a reason. Or have you forgotten about those rats that are running around to harm you? What will happen when they turn to Gia? Or have you forgotten about Elena?” I stilled as what Axel said hit, before gritting my teeth in frustration. What was more infuriating was that Axel didn't flinch even a bit. Curse my smart self for finding a Beta who was more grounded, fearless and logical than I would ever find elsewhere.

She said, her voice becoming shaky. Now it was my turn to frown; I didn’t understand what was wrong with a Beta. They were high-ranking wolves; of course, not as high ranking as Alpha’s, but they were higher ranking than Gamma’s. Alex is a gamma warrior, not even the head gamma. So, I wasn’t sure what was wrong with being mated to a beta. “Is something wrong?” He asked, worry returning to his voice. His breathing became heavy, and I thought she was about to have a panic attack.
