“Mr. Black seems to be investigating the matter that happened two years ago.” Zeno frowned, horror flashing across his face. Did they find out? “The case of Lisa Lennox,” the man added. Zeno grabbed his glass of wine and smashed it against the wall. The glass exploded, its pieces sprawling across the floor. “This is why I wanted to act fast! This is why!” he roared. “The boy, Ethan—for some fucking reason, he’s suddenly close to Mr. Black of all people. How is that pathetic man’s son suddenly backed by someone so powerful? What an odd twist.”

Behind her, a florist arrived with two giant arrangements of white orchids. Lena blinked. That wasn’t normal. Then came a man in a suit, adjusting his tie. “We’re here to set up for the Riverside Gala preview. Mr. Black’s team booked this space to host his charity spotlight.” The name hit her like a slap. Black. Dominic Black. Lena froze. “What do you mean booked this space?” she managed, stepping forward. The man glanced at her. “The owner agreed to host the display window. Mr. Black will be in town this weekend. Big media push. You’ll probably get more foot traffic.”

I watch as he struggles to hang an ornament on the tree, clearly tbinking about his decision. “Do you even know why my dad hates Christmas? Why we don’t celebrate it?” I ask. He looks at me, curious. “Yeah, I always thought it was weird. Why?” “Because to us, the 25th of December feels like Black Christmas.” “Black Christmas? What does that even mean?”

3rd January, 1999(evening) The Warehouse Lana I was dressed in a black knee length gown, nothing special. What's there to celebrate anyway, its not as if this is a friendly dinner. I just hope this goes well and I don't die before its over.

As the smoke curled around Lena, wisps of blackness seemed to seep out of the brunette. The twenty one year old continued to breath as calmly as possible even though all she wanted to do was curl up and scream. After about an hour in the circle, Lillian couldn’t sense any more darkness from her goddaughter. Happy that the danger had passed the witch blew out the candles and Lena sat up. “Is it gone?” she asked. “Yeah, it’s gone”, Lillian confirmed. She moved some candles away so she could sit beside Lena. “Do you want to tell me how the darkness got in you?”

I sat upright, changing my settings to switch to mails. It was from Dr. Xander with a black envelope as the subject followed by, "You need to see this!" I read out loud. I clicked on the new mail. She quickly styles her hair by combing it with her fingers so it doesn't look too messy and applies a little perfume on her skin.

“I don’t need it anymore.” He didn’t flinch. “Then I’ll give you something else instead. You paid. It would be wrong, against my nature, to let you leave with nothing of equal worth.” I exhaled a frustrated sigh and walked back to the counter, arms crossed. He placed two objects gently before me: a short, unlit candle and a wilting white flower. He gestured to the candle. “This is a demon-detection candle. It flares blue in the presence of evil.”

Jennifer chuckled and retorted mockingly, "CEO? Do you really think she became CEO through her own abilities? Without Jeremiah and me backing her up, she's just a useless loser." Charles looked at Jennifer in disbelief. His eyes were filled with shock and anger. Annoyed by the noise, I told the bodyguards to drag the two of them farther away. I crouched alone by the seaside.
