My release rushes through me, erupting in a white-hot blur that leaves me hollowed out and gasping. We collapse together, desperately husking air back into our lungs. The only light in the room is the moon filtering through the high windows, illuminating the sweat slicking our skin. I roll onto my side and drag Zli closer, our naked bodies fitting together with a terrifying perfection. But as they huddled together in the darkness, a faint light flickered in the distance, drawing their attention. "What is that?" Ezra asked, his spectral form wavering as he strained to see through the shadows. Malachi narrowed his eyes, his hand instinctively reaching for his weapon.
