Betty's usual favorites were crisps, spicy gluten, beverages, packaged snacks, beef jerky, and candy. At this moment, Betty stopped at a children's food area. After a moment of hesitation, she picked up a few bags of Seaweed Biscuit and placed it into the cart. Betty walked to the front of the lollipop again, picking up her favorite flavors and picking up a few more. Unknowingly, her cart was about to be filled to the brim with her snacks.

Luca hissed in a loud whisper, running over from the snack aisle and tossing three large bags of gourmet truffle potato chips into the cart. "We need these too," Alex added, stepping up right behind him and dropping five boxes of imported Japanese chocolates and a full case of high-caffeine energy drinks right on top of the fresh lettuce I had just picked out. I say sweetly, peeling back the cover and revealing my treasures tucked into a carved-out hole in the pages. Two instant noodle packs. Three Baby Ruth bars. And one shiny, glorious cheese powder sachet. I damn near cried. “You carved out the book?” he asked, incredulous. “Relax. The kids already cried in it. Might as well make it useful.” He stared at me, mouth open. “You made me traffic snacks.” “Technically, literature-enhanced goods.” “You used me.” “Technically, I recruited you.” He paced the cell. “Do you know how much trouble I could’ve gotten into?”

There was no resemblance but that didn't mean they didn't belong in the same family tree. He motioned to everybody present. "Now that we've all said our names, I welcome you all to this humble bookclub. May you all find what you need." He smiled, showing teeth. "Now that you are all here, let's get this party started. And before I forget," he waved at the cookies, "Feel free to refresh yourselves with the buffet presented herein." "What are those white thingies?" Spark asked pointed to the other tray. "You mean milk?" "I don't eat or drink anything white." The two silver loops on bottom lips glittered as she spoke. "White and death are counterparts."

Pearl yells at the closed door and Gwen giggles. Slowly the other women file in. I load up a bowl of potato soup that Julie brought. She even fried up some bacon to sprinkle on top and I think I've died and gone to Heaven. Gwen's new recipe for spinach dip feels like an orgasm in my mouth and I decide to ask Ev to do every book club with me forever, if only for the snacks. I listen as they talk about the book. We're on the downward swing of it now, the main conflict resolved with only the aftermath of the battle left to go through. It's a more emotional part of the story and I'm surprised Pearl even read it.

I place my newly gathered snacks onto the tray with the food I previously packaged. As much as I like sugar, I need to snack responsibly so healthy snacks are a must. That doesn’t mean I only eat healthy though. Finished picking snacks from the fridge, I go to my pantry. I choose six small bags of chips. Three are sour cream and onion and the other three are Doritos. I also pick a bag of popcorn and a bag of cheese curls. I place these on the tray as well and carry it back to my office.

That they could still feel a small tug of needing and want to be closer to them. A low rumbling in my stomach. Broke my train of thoughts. Seems these chips aren't satisfying this hunger that's growing. I stood up from the table, speed walking, making my way over to the snack table that was covered in a variety of of small snack foods like miniature club sandwiches, club crackers, wheat thins, ritz crackers, cheese it's and a mixture of cheeses, asiago, mozzarella, swiss and sharp cheddar. There was a small portion of the table that looked like it had been ran sacked. Which I'm pretty sure was from Michelle's little cousins, considering this part of the table appeared to have sweet desserts

Ryan said confidently while the rest of us watched. Lily smirked then stamped a piece of paper. "Alright sugar, now y'all have fun. Don't forget to take your popcorn on your way in" She drawled at us as we shuffled out of her way. Sure enough, there were packets of popcorn waiting for us and we each grabbed one. "Popcorn? Who the hell serves popcorn at a Fight Club?" I asked but Carlacia was already munching hers. "It's snacks yunno? Besides its delicious, try some" Carlacia shoved a handful of popcorn in my mouth. I chewed it and noticed it was indeed delicious. For an underground Fight Club, they do make delicious popcorn.

"Like I said, snacks. Doritos, Spicy Nacho and regular Nacho. Some salsa and tortilla chips. Some chocolate. Rice Krispies treats. A few other things that are terrible for us but delicious." "Sounds like a bag full of fun to me." "Yup. I'm admittedly a junk food-a-holic." I want to say it doesn't show, but I'm too embarrassed to admit out loud how much I've openly ogled the man. Not that it would surprise him much, considering my fumbling around the shampoo bowl this morning. "Let me just," I point to the kitchen, "grab some plates. Want a drink? I don't have anything but soda and water. Kind of boring."

Instead, there will be tears. I scoffed. "Of course, I would love to see you try, because from where I am standing, you are the one in tears." She swallowed like she wanted to say something but decided against it, then sat down. I opened the package, and there were several: doughnuts, pies, scones, and then energy drinks and juices. This wasn't for only me because this was more than I could finish, so I smiled at everyone who was looking at me. "Our Alpha brought us snacks; while we wait for my results, you can grab a snack to munch on," I said, then took a pie and juice.
