The metal glowed red and melted on the floor. “The vortex, Johan,” Dorin called. “Roger.” Replied Johan, setting the vortex on fire. The three-headed horse reared in the air and ran wild in the room, trampling some of the men in suits. The pillar of fire burned and ate its way through the ceiling, melting the dome like it was merely made of wax. The old Morel looked furious. He shouted a word and opened a portal that sucked the pillar of fire. “Johan,” Seb whispered, holding on to his arm and Dorin’s hand on the other. “Remember the white flame?”

The High Citadel was no longer a monument to solar perfection; it was a Galactic Lightning Rod. High above, the Harvester hadn't left; it had multiplied. Six more crystalline structures had de-cloaked, forming a geometric "Halo" around the planet. They weren't siphoning yet; they were Calibrating.

Milo was incredibly powerful and endured for almost half a day despite being simultaneously attacked by James, Feb, and Qusai. After defeating Milo, the remaining participants advanced to the next level of the arena. There were many halos in the arena. The contenders quickly occupied areas under the halos when they appeared in the new arena. The halo in the made one immune to damage and could restore the energy of one’s crystals. The white halos gave one a temporary strength boost, while the blue halos also gave one a magical shield that temporarily improved one’s defenses. Lastly, the pink halos improved one’s speed.

“Vera… Gabriel… the halo around the moon… it’s changing.” I felt it before the words even hit the air—the temperature in the room dropped. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I turned toward the messenger. The walls of the tent seemed to pulse, as though the very land itself was reacting. “The halo…” the messenger’s voice shook. “It’s thickening, turning red at the edges.” The room fell silent, the weight of the words hanging heavy. Everyone turned to the large window, their gazes drawn to the sky outside.

I need Kilanney!” I bark at him. “We need maps.” “Why the hell do you need Kilanney?” Milo asks from the waiting room chair with Kiara’s sleeping head on his shoulder. “I need Honey.” I snap back. “Fuck!” He wakes Kiara up. She rubs at her eyes. “Honey?” Adrian asks confused. “What the hell do you need an Angel for?” Kiara mumbles. “To find Kim.”

The cool breeze that drifted across the ocean at night ruffled my clothes, and I could taste the tangy mist of ocean spray on my tongue. When the glowing faded, Aralia stood proud. Her skin now had this silvery glow to it, like she had been dipped in liquid moonlight. She was beaming with joy, and Atlas was just—standing there. All at once, everyone in the ballroom knelt. A singular sound of everyone bowing, heads down and knees bent. “From the Hellion rivers in the North, with their healing waters to the oceans that surround our world. Rejoice, High Lady Aralia, ruler of the Water Court.”

He removed his sword from its sheath, raising it up; as he pointed to where the decapitated head lay. “A Suramite soldier leaped up suddenly amongst the dead men near the entrance door to the palace. Oh! You wonder how it happened, for I am still in shock. It is a miraculous thing. Look at this...” Tactically, he swiveled the luminous sword in his hand. The rays of the sun reflected on it and dazzled their sight. How had Murai become as powerful as to kill a soldier, Jonah thought, wondering how things could change in minutes.

She stood trying to tidy herself as best as she could but to ko avail, sighing in pure defeat "Hi I'm Moi-" The words caught deep within her throat as their eyes connected, fuck!, Dalia wanted to scream, it felt like the oxygen had been sucked out of the entire world something within them had recongized each other and it was pulling them, drawing them into the darkness, taking away their will to stay conscious and no matter how she fought, Dalia could feel herself ebbing away, until the numbness completely crept over her and her counterpart, who laid crumpled on the floor.

“Let’s go.” They walked forward down a dimly lit hallway and soon found themselves at another door. Without pausing, they pushed this one open as well and found it led out onto a sort of platform, which hung roughly two stories above a large, open room filled with old-looking machines. To Tina, they seemed hulking and almost dangerous in the dim light, like prehistoric predators waiting to strike. Almost haphazardly, unfinished dolls lay on the machines, some missing arms or legs, some unpainted and, most disturbingly to Tina, some lacking the mask that would give them a face, leaving the synthetic eyes to almost float in an empty head cavity.
