Then, after they spent mid-morning to mid-afternoon at the beach, they took a drive a couple hours away to a place called 'Brookgreen Gardens'. It was perhaps Dillon's favourite part of their trip, or amongst his favourites. Adrian was right, it was enormous, with thousands of different plant species that grew wild over the entire interior of the garden. What Adrian hadn't mentioned was that it was also a zoo. That part thrilled Dillon, as he'd(somehow) never been to a zoo. There was so much to see and explore that hours flew by before they knew it. The goons walk with her quickly to camp. The three of us rush back. Brooke has built a beautiful nursery for children of the fellowship. Blue, yellow, and pink painted beds are lined up against the walls. Each crib made up perfectly against the walls. I walk up to one that is decorated perfectly. I notice it already has a name on it; Adrianna it says above the bed. “Where is this child?” I ask.

I say, adjusting in my seat to start the car. The drive to the greenhouse is quiet, the silence between us heavy. When we arrive, Mr. Reid, the gardener, greets us warmly and leads us inside. The greenhouse is a serene oasis, filled with an array of flowers cultivated with care. The arched roof, with its silver shade, seems to shimmer in the sunlight, casting a warm glow over the space. As we step inside, Hermione's expression transforms from reserved to intrigued. Her eyes scan the surroundings, taking in the beauty of the greenhouse. She appears to appreciate the quaint environment, her curiosity getting the better of her.

I said, turning my gaze toward the window. The road carved through Wolfebrooke Forest, where trees created a natural shield to block out the morning sun. Soon, the tree line cleared to reveal the academy resting on a hill. The campus had manicured trees and flowers with tall iron gates surrounding the building. Stepping out of the Jeep, the noise of students filled everywhere… conversations died down as heads turned in my direction. I walked up the stairs, passing a group of students leaning on the wall. One of the guys stopped talking, tilted his head back, sniffed the air, and then locked his eyes on me.

“Don’t. You need rest.” In the mirror, Avery’s reflection shifted, her thumb frozen mid-scroll. I caught it. I wished I hadn’t. Outside, the city began to rise around us, clean lines, tall buildings, flashes of morning life. When we turned toward campus, the gates of Eden Brook Academy came into view, glinting gold under the sun. The place looked like something out of a catalog, manicured lawns, glass walls, students laughing in pressed attires. Money disguised as dreams.
