Somewhere deep in the stone, auxiliary systems groaned and disengaged. Locks released with a hydraulic sigh.
Eirwen stared at the shard—no longer glowing, just a chunk of metal, heavy and real.
“This isn’t a crown,” she said, voice low. “It’s a key.”
Domenik stepped forward, his presence closing in, not touching, but claiming the ground between them. His words were a warning, edged in steel.
“And keys get stolen.”
