Darkness Comprehended It Not Novels & Stories

~Carmen~ Once Dargo tugs me past the front door, my entire being gets swallowed by darkness. There’s no light in the first space we walked into, not even a single trace to provide any relief. It is almost as if light doesn't exist in this part of the world. My eyes struggle to adjust, my brain expecting to see the faint outlines of what’s around me at any second as expected, but everything around me remains pitch black. It feels like I’ve suddenly been dropped into an abyss. It's so frightening.

The darkness ripples around me, creating waves that radiate in every direction, with me at the center, looking out into nothing. A stray note of something that sounds almost like my name reaches me, but when I try to call out again, the sound is caught and swallowed by the nothingness of the void. This has never happened before. Not only was it hard to reach him, but now he's been taken from me as if he were never here. Something is blocking me--something AWARE. It is as if the darkness itself has gained sentience, and in its sudden awakening, decided to block me from my love.

Chapter 26 Whispers Of The Unknown Quinton's POV The darkness that surrounded me was not the comforting silence of sleep but a suffocating void that pressed against my chest, heavy and stifling. It felt as though I was drowning in it, unable to claw my way back to the surface. The weight was unbearable, and yet, I couldn’t wake up. My body felt distant, almost numb, as if it no longer belonged to me.

She was a shadow, drifting in an endless sea of nothingness, a forgotten soul in an abyss of despair. But something inside her refused to give up. A flicker of light, faint but persistent, burned in the depths of her soul. It was small, fragile, barely visible against the overwhelming darkness. But it was there. It had always been there, buried beneath the weight of fear and despair, waiting for the moment to rise. The First Darkness hissed, recoiling from the light. Its ancient voice trembled with something that might have been fear. "What is that? What have you done? That light—it should not exist. It cannot exist. It is impossible."

I approach it with him, my heart rate skipping a beat when it encompasses him. When I reached for it, I was overwhelmed. The darkness was so thick, my vision was covered in the ebony blanket, and everything I could once see in front of me was now gone. Including the Alpha. Stumbling over broken boughs and loose sticks, I attempted to navigate my way through the darkness. How did it become so thick so suddenly? Thor clearly knew this place better than me, which also meant that he had assumably powered ahead and this is all for nothing. I stopped.

I could feel a dull pain going through my body but I didn't care to stop and see what was going on with my body. I could feel a huge amount of darkness surrounding me as my thoughts became even harder to understand. I felt myself being consumed by the darkness but I didn’t mind it at all. I just needed to be alone so I could understand my thoughts. I will go to sleep for a while and hopefully wake up somewhere else…

The darkness spilled outward like living mist, flowing across the clearing as though searching. Waiting. Watching. Daniela’s remaining breath caught painfully inside her throat. Then… It noticed her. She saw no eyes. No face. Nothing even remotely alive. Yet she felt its attention settle upon her. It weighed more than mountains. Older than kingdoms. Colder than death. Everything inside her screamed. This wasn’t a wolf. This wasn’t anything she had ever imagined. The darkness looked back. Her entire body trembled so violently the vines quivered with her. She wanted to look away.

She clutched on the door frame as she slowly blacked out. When she opened her eyes, she wasn't Aurora. "WHY?" All heads snapped towards her and saw the darkness in her eyes.

I felt like the murk of her become somehow visible for a second as I can see the deepness of her agony and that's the moment I understood- 'Your fight was never with me, your hatred never meant for me in the first place, it was all directed to your own self. 'You are not in darkness, rather you become darkness yourself.' 'You are deliberately shutting yourself out. You are afraid of being saved.'

An ominous figure cloaked in despair emerged at the center of the chaos, twisted by greed and envy. “Behold, the origin of the darkness,” the Keeper’s voice echoed in our minds. “The darkness is born from the unquenched desire for power, a longing that corrupts and enslaves. This is the fate that awaits you if you allow fear to rule your hearts.” The vision dissipated, leaving us staring into the water, breathless and shaken by the knowledge we had just witnessed. “It’s not just an enemy,” Althea said, her voice trembling. “It’s a manifestation of our own fears and desires. We must confront that within ourselves to truly overcome it.”
