Dreaming Walking Barefoot Novels & Stories

I am back in my dreams, travelling through the woodland. Everything is bright and fresh, the air smells like it has rained. That deeply earthy, pure scent that warms your soul. I notice my feet are bare as I ascend the path, a plain white cotton dress down to my ankles. I have never owned such an item before, yet it seems so familiar.

Barefoot, but I could not feel any cold at all. This dream was so random and to think that I knew that this was another dream was also something I did not expect, too. Barefoot, I started walking, in the hope that I would see someone. Someone who could help me wake me up in this dream. I had no time for this. I also don't like this at all. A certain voice inside my head was asking me to wake up. It was a man’s voice. But how would I wake up? My steps faltered when I saw something.

she looks around at the gathering who all nod their heads, "How did you get through the Barren?" I sigh. "I walked." I point down at my boots which are now just tattered bits of leather barely held together by threads. I don't even want to know what my feet look like. They feel like slabs of raw meat. She narrows her eyes, "I know of the dreamers." Ah.

But standing here now made it look almost modest. As I admired the scale of it, reality tugged me back, people passing by had started to stare. It didn’t take long for me to realize why. I glanced down at my feet. My shoes were dangling from my hand, and I stood there barefoot on the polished stone. Earlier, on my mad dash across the street, I’d broken my toenail badly. The pain had been so sharp it made me limp, and the only thing that felt bearable was to take the heels off entirely. But now, about to walk into a company like this, I knew showing up barefoot was worse than limping.

I shoved the gym door open, letting the night air slap against my skin. --- That night, I tossed for hours. Sleep came late and hit hard. And then I was dreaming. Only it didn’t feel like a dream. It felt real. I was in the woods, barefoot, shirtless, the moon so bright it lit everything in silver. My wolf was close, right under my skin. Not angry. Not wild. Just… alive. And I wasn’t alone. Someone was ahead of me. Walking through the trees. Slow. Graceful. I couldn’t see their face—but I felt them.

With a harsh motion, I slid the patio doors aside and slipped into the garden, walking nowhere specific. The grass tickled my bare feet and was a nice distraction from the storm I felt inside me. I was used to walking barefoot; a habit I picked up from home. I had to run fast at all hours of the day, and sometimes it also required running without shoes. I tried taking a deep breath, but it only came out as a hiccup.

The journey from the nightmare into wakefulness left me disoriented, the lines between dreams and reality blurred. With unsteady steps, I made my way to the door. The cold floor sent shivers through me as I moved through the dimly lit corridor, guided only by the faint moonlight filtering through the windows. My bare feet carried me forward, an instinctive pull drawing me out of the suffocating confines of my room.

Empty and silent, everything looked very strange, I'm wearing a light, white, flowing robe and my feet are bare. I'm terrified at first, when I realize why, I felt so light, I'm not really walking, I'm levitating. I look at my body, it's different, I notice that my belly has grown as if I were pregnant. I'm not pregnant! I can only be dreaming, it must be a dream, all this has no possibility of happening now. It had to be just a dream.

Which means I’m in the. I’m in the chapel. My pulse is racing now. Frantically I look at my feet. They’re covered in mud, which means I have been walking around the lakeside all this time. I have been sleep-walking, following the first sequence of my wretched dream. A small strangled cry escapes my lips as I try to stomp and get rid of the mud clumps, but then I step on something slick and cold. I whip around and look at the floor, and my entire soul leaves my body.
