It was truly a sacred place. I plopped myself down on the wooden chair and buried my head on the burrow I made with my arms on the table. I sighed deeply, not understanding the pain and supreme tiredness I was feeling. Pain and tiredness wasn't new to me but this was particularly different. I grabbed my favourite book, Othello by Shakespeare and sat, running my hand along the spine of the book. I opened the book and it landed on a page that I had a left a note in. I skimmed the page, reading the parts I had highlighted with a light blue highlighter. I took the note and read it:

she snickered. "Well, I love fantasy, action, thriller and suspense books but those books were different" he spoke with excitement. He liked talking about his favourite books. "Why?" "Is this an interview questions?" he chuckled while she smiled shyly at him. They were both impressed that I have already published a half dozen books that have been fairly successful. “I love the Erotic Wizard book you wrote,” Fiona purred. It amazed me that she had already read one of my books. “I get aroused every time I think about those steamy sex scenes you described,” she announced openly. There was a short silence that followed and Franny was grinning broadly when I glanced over at her.

“Sitting and reading all day drains you in a different way. It builds up quietly. By the end, your head just feels… heavy.” She gave a small shrug, like she had already gone through it too many times to be surprised by it anymore. She wasn’t wrong. I let out a low groan. “I thought I was supposed to be good at this kind of thing…” We had spent the whole day going through Medina’s books. On the surface, they looked normal—words I could read just fine. But once you tried to make sense of them together, it was like chasing smoke. Nothing stayed still long enough to understand.

*********** JEMIMA’S POV "With that last insistent shove, I opened my thoroughfare to let an avalanche of weariness crash over me, about to drown me alive." An appraisal of the day's events put me at a point of depletion. I heaved a sigh and said, "I'm not in the mood to go. I'm tired, my body wants rest. Besides, brilliant people tend to be lazy because they would rather spend much time thinking than doing." It won't hurt to try again. She might had a change of heart and allow me to skip class instead. A day of felicity it will be, I got to miss seeing my classmates. My eyelashes batted dally, as if a weight was being added to it. I'm drowsy. It was already one in the morning when I rested my eyes from reading. The book Selfish Gene written by Richard Dawkins caught my attention. It was a hobby of mine to read good books. A day wouldn't be complete with out it. I had borrowed almost everything at the library
