Another item caught my attetion, it was a book. “What’s that?” Oliver asked. “It’s the book my Mother used to read to me all the time every night before I went to bed and her Mother read it to her. They were told that this was done to prevent spies or enemies from figuring out what their leaders were planning to do and say. That ability always freaked out Alpha Rasmore. He knew if he decided to tell everyone about Karen Milburn, everyone would rebuke him, asking whether he couldn't read or hear Elinda Milburn's thoughts. How was it possible that he never figured out her lies? The truth was, he did figure it out anytime she came to him with a new, cooked-up story about Karen, but he still believed her.
