She nodded her head and walked away.
I leaned against the wall as soon as Lia walked away. My body was weakened. My knees wobbled. I tried hard to stand on both feet, literally and figuratively.
By afternoon, the people were gathered outside the pack house. I grabbed the moonstone from where I kept it. The stone hummed in my ears as soon as my hands held it. It glowed—a bright blue glow that could almost shatter the eyes.
I stepped on the podium given to me, with the moonstone in my hand.
