I couldn't tell if I was thinking or imagining things or seeing things at the moment, I couldn't just tell. Slowly and hesitantly, I trailed into the bathroom to have a cold shower. I never knew I needed a cold shower so badly until I took off the towel covering my body and turned on the shower. When the waters kissed my skin that was when I noticed it. After taking my time to have my beauty bath, I reached out for the towel humming a song to myself as I dried the water from my body. When my hand brushed on my breast as I cleaned my body with the towel I began to have silly thoughts.

Did she make an enemy fighting for someone? Stepping into the shower, she flinched under the gushing water from the showerhead. Her mind slowly faded into dullness and the news about Hilary Hinez was now a foggy illusion. She loved how a good, warm shower could do something magical like this: take things off her mind. Her thoughts swirled. She loved warm baths, but just like every beautiful thing, it could never last.

She keeps brushing against my ribs, my spine, like she’s checking the walls of a cage that shouldn’t be there. I swing my legs out of bed and stand before the thoughts can catch up. Routine first. Thinking later. The shower goes on too hot. I step under it without flinching, letting the water beat down on my shoulders until my skin protests. Steam fills the bathroom, fogging the mirror, blurring my reflection until I’m just a shape instead of a person with a name that’s been dragged through too many documents lately. I scrub like I’m trying to erase something. Shampoo. Rinse. Soap again. I tilt my head back and let the water run over my face until my thoughts thin out.

Goosebumps prick my entire skin, and I rub my thighs together as more thoughts flow in like torrents. His warm breaths. His strong arms. The way he played with my nipple….. God! Quickly, I increase the rushing tempo of the shower water raining down on my head and body to drown out the dirty thoughts, despite how tempting they wanted me to dwell on them. I hurry up in the shower, and when I am done, I towel dry my hair and body before stepping out, sliding the shower door close. I wrap the big towel around me before getting back fully into my bedroom.

I told you the bedside tables were heavy, my junk collection saves the day again! You know when you're in the shower, you start to get those thoughts that you wouldn't get if you were I don't know, sitting in the kitchen. Well I guess that's why they call them shower thoughts, I dump a big handful of shampoo into my hand and start scrubbing my hair, yes I know that's not what you're meant to do but I don't time to sit there and delicately tab my scalp with the shampoo, I'm a busy woman.

My head pounded slightly, as soon as I laid in the bed, it quickly began becoming quiet and calm. As soon as it was quiet, the thoughts came back again, I jumped out of bed, rushing into the bathroom. I opened the door to the shower turning the water to full blast, not caring whether it would make me sick, or wet myself. I stepped inside the shower, closing my eyes tightly, I just wanted to stop thinking. I stood under the hot water, letting it wash over me, washing away all the thoughts that were running through my head.

Today I have a full schedule ahead of me. I took my time in the shower, which is where I sometimes do my best thinking. It's the only quiet place I have to myself without interruption, where I can keep a clear head and let my thoughts ruminate. I realized as I flicked the water on that I'd been going in too many directions at once since I got here. Maybe that's the reason for all these strange feelings I'm having. I'd rather believe that shit than to think some kid because that's what the hell she is, has what it takes to put me through my paces. I made a left turn away from thoughts of her and got back on track.

I hang up as the shower turns off. And all I can think is, that today is going to be long. And everything is about to change.
