Rachel POV On the Road Bella made breakfast sandwiches for the road. She made enough for me, Nathan, and even Art. I wasn't sure what to expect for a trip with two Alphas though I was certainly grateful for the food to keep everyone busy in the beginning of the trip. We got off to a rocky start since Art insisted Nathan drive and I sit in the backseat. He pointed out it was safer for me to be in the back which settled Nate down. I was still surprised he had refused to drive. Who knew an Alpha Inspector would admit to not being able to do anything at all better than everyone else? Art was a strange one.

Like who all is going and if everyone will be there the whole time. “So, who is all coming on the trip with us?” I ponder like the idea just came into my head. All I know is that Lynn is coming. From what I’ve seen, I think she’s a pretty awesome person. I’m happy she’s coming along with us. “There’s Corbin. He’s very gentlemanly and sweet. Karter, he’s the goofball out of the group. He’s the type to make jokes at inappropriate times though so watch out for that and try not to take offense because he always means well. Jericho is probably the quietest one, he’s usually the one watching to make sure nobody does anything stupid when they get drunk … kinda like the dad of the group,” she takes

He was going to find out about the woman who birthed him and also get help about his mate. They had embarked on the journey that was going to take at least half of the day. They were in their car, alternating to drive every few hours while the others that were not driving read through some manuscripts about witches because they wanted to try and decipher what the journal meant but they had little to no success with that. It was like trying to learn a brand new language. “This is so frustrating man.” Liam groaned as he slammed the big book he was reading shut and leaned his head to the back of the seat, inhaling the cold and papery scent of the air in the car.

Dottie groaned as Danny protected her closely. When we piled into cars to begin our trip to Triora I was glad to ride with Dad, Danny, Dottie and Alex alone. We didn't speak much and just savoured the silence it was nightfall when we came up to the GPS Coordinates sent by Adam and I saw a stretch of tents on a manicured lawn in front of a huge stone house. A bridge crossed over the lake water and we walked it on foot. Soon as I could scent Charlie my wolf ran as she emerged from a tent and threw herself into my open arms. "What were you thinking of my love?" I asked as I kissed her gently.

But the owner is hidden behind another guy, i strained my sight to see but i couldn't. "And leave one of the pack behind? Not happening. Not even a paparazzi disorder can let me leave you dear friend" he cleared his throat. "Allow me to introduce you to the boys, Gregory Martin, Julian Dabus, Damon Dough, Broody Daiyen and last but not the least, the person we like to call JC" He introduced in the order they stood and JC's face came into full view. Bloody hell. This was going to be a long eight-hour journey.

"Horoscope. It says I should avoid hostile islands and overachieving women with unresolved trauma." Bella smirked. "That's oddly specific." "You're oddly specific." They both chuckled - a rare moment of light in a very dark sky. --- When the plane touched down, a jeep waited for them, engine rumbling like a bored beast. The driver, a freckled young woman with a thick Scottish accent, offered them protein bars and suspiciously strong coffee. "I'm Carys. You must be the famous fugitives with matching trauma bonds." Bella blinked. "Is that how people describe us now?"

Marlon bumps his bicep again, the way playful friends do. "Your secret is safe with us," Larissa says. "We will guide it with our lives." I don't know, my mum and I have been wired not to trust for so long. Can I trust them, for the first time? I look at Marlon, and he gives me a very small nod. If he trusts them, then I have no other option than to trust them too. "Okay!" Marlon runs his hands together, lightening up the mood. "Luther and I are planning to go on a road trip this weekend, and we want both of you to help us brainstorm through it."

Eight hours felt very long when my magic was threatening to boil my blood at any moment. I leaned my head against the cold glass of the window, and I watched the empty highway stretch out in front of us. The road trip was very quiet for the first hour, and the rhythmic humming of the tires helped soothe my anxious nerves. We passed a few small human towns, but most of the gas stations and diners were closed for the night. "Tell me more about Elias, because I need to know why you hate him so much," I requested, needing a distraction from my own dark thoughts.
