My irritation grew. “Says the person who left me and we met by coincidence,” I blurted out pushing him off me and searching for my actual clothes. “It's fate, Amy, not a coincidence.” “Then fuck fate!” I yelled enraged, and when I didn't see my clothes I took one of his big shirts and wore them storming out of the house forgetting I had to wear shoes.

“For fraud. And Clide… he’s broke. Completely. His company collapsed. He’s hiding from creditors. Everything just… fell apart.” Amy sat beside me on the bed. “Does that make you sad?” “It makes me feel free,” I confessed softly. “But I still feel… alone.” Amy gave a light smile. “Then maybe it’s time for something better. Or someone better.” I frowned slightly. “What do you mean?” “There’s someone I want you to meet.” I stared. “Amy, I’m not ready for—” She didn’t let me finish. She pulled out her phone and made a call. “Come in.”

It was oddly comforting. I laid back, letting my arm fall close to her without touching, feeling the softness of the sheets under me. My eyes fluttered shut, and I tried to push away the questions, the guilt, the confusion, the fact that I didn’t even know anything about this woman asides her name.
